Introduction:

Super Mario RPG, a game that shocked a lot of people. Up until that point Mario had just been in fun loveable action games, but Nintendo thought it would be fun to put him in an RPG. Well, this idea worked great. This game is loved and praised by many. They took the great RPG style but kept the funny loveable Mario Style. Most RPG's are all serious, but this was just fun. They kept that Mario Spark, that Mario essence, and put it in a RPG. I am not a huge fan of RPG's, but this is a great RPG, I really got into this game.

Story:

I don't want to really ruin any of the story, lets just say you start off trying to save the Princess from Bowser.

Gameplay:

The gameplay is incredibly fun. You battle enemies just like in any RPG. You will be able to use 4 options in Battle. There is the B-Button, that will let you either go into a defensive position or a chance of running away from that battle. I didn't really use this option that much. There is the A-Button, which is Basic Attack, you will learn different basic attacks as you progress through the game. You can only have 1 Attack equipped at a time.  There is the Y-Button, which is your Special Attack. You will learn many new  Special Attacks as you progress. You will be able to have all of your learned Special Attacks equipped. Special Attacks acquire you to use some magic, you have a limited amount of magic, but you can replenish your magic inside and outside of battle, with items. There is the X-Button, this has the list of all your items. You will be using items in battle that you will find and buy in various stores throughout your adventure. Some items you will use in battle include, Mushroom-This will increase your HP. (For those of you who are new to RPG's, HP is just your health.) There is Syrup-This will increase your FP. (This is just your Magic.) There is Pick-Up- This will revive an fallen ally. That brings me to the next point of the game. In battle you will not just fight with Mario, you will find allies to help you. (For those of you you have never played a RPG, the battle style is back and forth, between you and the enemy, first you attack, then they attack.) When your not in battle you will be walking around many different areas. You will enter towns and have to purchase things at the local shop. You will need to buy armor and weapons, as well as many different items. This game will also make you think, which makes a RPG, a RPG. You will have to talk to people in towns and other areas. For those of you who have played RPG's before, it is just like those, but with a nice, funny, Mario twist. This game is very fun, I got addicted to this game very quickly. I couldn't stop playing it until I was finished.

I give the gameplay: 10/10!!!

Graphics:

The graphics in this game are great. The graphics are 3-D!!! This is cool to see, considering this is a Super Nintendo Game. Mario looks good in 3-D. But it's a really unique 3-D look. I like the look of all the characters and enemies, as well as the environment. I have heard someone describe the look of the game as "plasticy." Which I guess is true, it does sort of have a plastic look. I would guess you would really like this look, or just hate it. I liked it.

I give the graphics: 9/10

Sound:

This game has to have great sound, after all, RPG or not, it's still a Mario game. You will hear the classic Mario theme, as well as some new great sounds. The background sound is amazing, it's not just a couple songs re-heard all over the game, and just sped up a little bit, it's a whole bunch of cool new sounds. The sound FX are great too, Gotta love that Mario Jump.

I give the sound: 9/10

Replayability:

The Replayability of this game is like most RPG's, once you beat it you don't really want to beat it again, at least for a long time. I had A LOT of fun playing this game, and I recently re-played it. It wasn't as fun playing it, as it was the first time I played it, since I remembered some of it. It was still fun. I found myself addicted to it again. So, you could play this game, then in a few years, re-play it.

I give the replayability: 5.5/10

Challenge:

The Challenge is very good. It will have you thinking and sweating a little. Well, my hands got a little sweaty after holding the controller for so long. This game gives a great and fun challenge. (Annoying 3-D Puzzle Maze on that Ship.!!!) You'll know what I'm talking about.

I give the challenge: 8/10

Value:

The value of this game is great. I would pay upwards of Ten Million Dollars. NO! I'm just joking, I got this game for $18US. I would have paid A LOT more than that for this game.

Overall:

Overall this game has everything you would want in a Mario RPG for the SNES. It has incredible gameplay, the graphics are very cool for the SNES, the sound is great, the replayability isn't that great, the challenge and value are superb. I love this game. I would say that this is a great play if you like RPG's or not. I am not a big RPG fan at all, but I love this game. So, if you Love Mario, and don't really care much for RPG's, then you might just like this game.

I give Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars: 10/10!!!

Conclusion:

When I first tried this game I was a bit skeptical. I had never really liked RPG's, but this is a Mario Game, so I had to try it. After a couple minutes of playing this game I was addicted. I stayed up late playing it. When I would wake up, and before my eyes were even really opened, I had turned on the SNES and started to play. I played this game for a couple of days until I finished it, and loved every minute of it. But I have to admit, every time I got a star I felt a little sad, because these pure addicting games don't come along that often, and I knew I was just 1 star closer to being finished. There are great games that come out, but not that many I want to play from the moment I wake, to the time I sleep. This game was one of the very last Super Nintendo Game made, and it was a great send off to a great system. I will always have the great memories of playing this fantastic game.
