The Second Year of Nintendo City
Well here it is, my memoirs or so for the last year of Nintendo City.
It's so weird, I clearly remember typing up last years look-back, and
now it's time for the second year. So much has happened in the last
year. Even the way I feel about the site. Well, one by one, I'll be
reading the past updates for the last year and commenting on some of
them. I'll sometimes post the update here, it will be in blue text.
I'm not going to be talking about every update, but I will read them.
Now I know this will be quite lengthy, and I really don't expect
anyone to read it.
I don't write this for other to read, I read it for me. I like to
reflect over the past year. It helps me, and reminds me of what needs
to be done for the next, and gives me a better appreciation for
Nintendo City. Well "Letsa Go!"
Site Update: April 3rd, 2005
Nesmaster has written a review for Mega Man 6. This means he has
written a review for every Mega Man for the NES. Thanks Nesmaster.
What will be next for him and NES reviews?
Tune in to Nintendo City soon to find out.
This really did complete a passage in a way. Nesmaster was probably
the first visitor at Nintendo City. He was one of the first to submit
something, and every so often he'd submit a Mega Man Review for the
NES. He finished the series with this.
Site Update: April 7th, 2005
This weeks Trivia of the Week Test is up. So test your knowledge at
some random Nintendo related questions.
Oh yeah. I remember when I did the Trivia of the Week tests. Wow,
haven't done those in awhile. I always seemed to forgot to make one,
and wait to the last minute. But I always had fun making them. I have
always thought of bringing it back, maybe make 4 weeks worth of tests
in advance, might make it easier.
Site Update: April 12th, 2005
Well, here is the start of a change to the Comics Section.
There is a new comic series here on Nintendo City.
But before I talk about it I want to mention Koopa Brigade #14.
I'm not sure if I want 3 series going, and I never really made a story
line for Koopa Brigade #14; I thought it didn't need one, but I feel
as though it should.
So as of now, Koopa Brigade #14 is on a hiatus.
I may end the show, or retool it, I'm not sure yet.
Well, let me talk about the new comic series. One I am very excited
about.
The Bower and Mallow Comic.
I have been wanting to put Mallow in a comic series for so long, I
finally figured out a good story line for him. I have teamed him up
with Bowser. Bowser is the more of the goofy-stupid one, and Mallow is
the more responsible-smart one.
It's a buddy comic.
I have really thought this through, not quickly put it together.
The first episode which is up now, is 100 frames.
I wanted to show a somewhat epic story of how Mallow and Bowser come
together.
It takes place one year after the end of Super Mario RPG: Legend of
the Seven Stars. I have more ideas for episodes, so there should be a
second episode soon.
It will probably be different. It will really show how the series will
be.
So I hope you enjoy, check out The Bowser and Mallow Comic.
Wow, I can't believe it was almost a year since the
series started, and it's only on Episode 3! I really gotta get caught
up, with it and Adventures of Koomba.
The reason why they are so far apart, is after making an episode which
is over 100 or 200 frames, you get a little tired of the comic. When I
finish an episode I can't even imagine making another one. But in the
time I take not making one, I do always think of the next episode,
what the plot will be and such. I started episode 4 a week or two ago.
I got up to the 70th frame, and got busy with other things.
I will continue it soon though, and after that the next episode of
Adventures of Koomba. I already have that episode planned out in my
head.
And getting back to this update, so much stuff I want to say, and I
guess I will.
I had to put Koopa Brigade #14 on hiatus. The reason I ran out of
episodes is, I never really thought about the series at all before I
made the first episode. I was making the layout before this one, and I
was entering the comics sections in. "Mushroom Kingdom" "Random Comic"
"Adventures of Koomba". It seemed like it needed more, so on the spot
I randomly entered Koopa Brigade #14 for some reason. The comic
followed the name, not the other way around.
It was hard to make new episodes because the series doesn't follow one
big plot, each episode is something new.
I'll talk about this more later, and how they came out of hiatus.
I also want to mention this layout has now been here over a year. I
like this layout. It is what I always wanted, some colours, and most
of all, tons of Nintendo Sprites all over the place, so when you come
here, you know its a Nintendo fan Site.
Now to talk about the Bowser and Mallow Comic. (So
much talking on this one update)
Well, I had recently replayed Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven
Stars. Amazing game by the way. Well, I never switched off Mallow, he
stayed with my fighting team the whole game. When I was done playing,
I really liked Mallow. I don't know why. I felt sad that he is in no
other games, he just kind of ended with that game. So I wanted to make
a comic with him.
The series was originally going to be something like "Mallow's Search"
And it would be Mallow searching for his grandfather Frogfucious who
had disappeared. Well I thought about it for awhile. Thought up a
first episode.
But it was missing something. I didn't know what, but it was. Mallow
had no-one to talk to in every episode. And Mallow is more of a
responsible character, he wouldn't be making any type of the
lame-jokes I write. Then I thought, maybe Mario could help him. But
that would be to obvious, and there are already many comics that star
Mario. Then I thought of Bowser. I thought of how he was portrayed as
a loveable funny guy in SMRPG. He was goofy, and always making jokes.
It then hit me, a buddy comic. Their personalities are so different,
it would be perfect. So I tried to make the first episode as much of
an epic as I could, showing how this all began. Leading to Mallow
meeting Bowser. This series I really can think up episodes. They can
just go to various Nintendo Characters until they find out who
kidnapped Mallows Grandfather. Actually, I already know who did,
thought of who months ago.
But besides how this started. I really like this comic, and Adventures
of Koomba. I enjoy making them, I enjoy thinking up what will happen
next in their journey.
Phew! Enough with talking about this update.
Site Update: April 23rd, 2005
Lots to talk about today.
Ok, I am giving two things another go.
Nintendo City covers news again. I liked covering news, I just have to
do it my way; saying my comments and hoping I inform 1 person.
I have decided to show off the News on the Right Side Bar. I knew I'd
get some use out of it. The news also has its own page.
Nintendo City now has a forum. Will it work out? I'm not sure, but I
hope so.
This time I worked on the layout of the forum.
The colours of it are just like the site, so it goes together
perfectly.
I hope everyone who likes Nintendo will sign up and get this forum
going.
Also, whenever News breaks, it will also be posted in the forum, so
people can discuss it.
Amatatomba has sent in 2 articles. They are good. I also put a thread
about them in the forum, because there is stuff you can discuss from
the articles.
The Articles are called Touching is allowed, but not MANDATORY! and
Who's Less Biased?.
So check them out, and check out the forum.
Uh yes. This is when the forum and news was
introduced. I will first talk about the news.
Well I had previously had news on the site. It was displayed where the
site updates are. I never really liked that, I found it perfect
putting them on the right side, and then someone can visit any page
and see the news. I also wanted to start doing the news from my own
view. I wanted to shorten it down, and just say what is happening,
without repeating things over and over.
I thought incorporating with the forum would help both out. Maybe
someone would want to comment on a news report, and then would sign up
at the forum to do so.
And people on the forum would see the news.
I have never been as speedy with the news as I should, I admit it. But
I do want to get better at it. But I do say this, when something Big
for Nintendo happens, I always report it right away.
Now as for the forum. Amatatomba emailed me and ask a few things about
the site. One of the things Amatatomba suggested was opening a forum.
Well I was quite iffy on doing so. As my old forum before that got
about 50 members that died off. I didn't want to make a forum until
the site was a few years old and had much more content. But I thought
what do I have to lose. So I went out and installed a forum. Last time
I just installed a pre-made template. This time I wanted to do my own,
and make it match the site. So I did. Amatatomba joined and got a few
other too as well. We would all post and make topics for the next
while.
Well, to my incredible surprise the forum actually got more members, I
was one earlier and it had 161 members. I never thought it would get
so many.
So on the record, thanks Amatatomba for getting me to start a forum.
Even if it all of a sudden fails, I still had a great time with it so
far.
Site Update: April 27th, 2005
I finally added a Links page. It has two different types of Links. One
page has links of a bunch of Nintendo Game/Series/Hardware sites. The
other has links to Nintendo Related Fan Sites. I will probably be
adding more links to them throughout the month.
There should be another update later today.
Yep, I finally added a Links page. I haven't updated the Official
Nintendo Game/Series/Hardware sites at all. I guess I should, but it's
hard to keep up. So many open all the time.
But I have added some Nintendo Fan Site Links every once in awhile.
Some good sites out there.
Notification: April 29th, 2005
Sorry I didn't have another update on the 27th, I will try and put up
what I was going to, later today.
Well, what I am about to say is exciting for me and Nintendo City.
Today I have been accepted into the vgamin press.
What does this mean?
Well, I will now have access to exclusive Nintendo News, as well as
Nintendo Images. So now Nintendo City's News,
as well as images will be able to become much better.
I will continue to check other sources, but vgamin will be my main
source, and most definitely the most valuable.
Yep, I love vgamin. I signed up for it before I launched the News
Section. They checked out my site and approved it. I get some news and
screenshots there, they are a very good site.
Site Update: May 5th, 2005
Now for the update I was going to do awhile ago, but never got time to
putting up.
Remember how I made 4 level maps for the SMB Shrine, well I scrapped
those 4 and started over. I think level maps need to have the enemies
in the level, as well as the locations of the items. (Mushrooms,
Coins, etc.)
So I am now introducing, level maps for all 32 levels.
As well as level maps for the bonus areas.
So I guess the Level Maps section is basically done.
I should have another update tomorrow.
Just a continuing effort to expand the SMB Shrine. I still do want to
make it bigger. And I am thinking of adding a new page to it soon, so
maybe I'll be talking about it next year.
Site Update: May 12th, 2005
Also, the second episode of the Bowser and Mallow Comic is now up.
This is the longest comic I have ever made. It is 203 frames long.
The next one probably won't be nearly as long, but the ideas kept
coming to me, and this is the second episode.
This episode really shows how the series will go. The first showed how
and why Bowser and Mallow met, this episode shows what each episode
will be like, how the plot will kind of go.
Well, I hope you enjoy it.
I will try and update again soon.
WHAAA!!! Oh yeah, I remember now. I made the second episode so fast
after the first, and then slowed right down. I remember really wanting
to make a second one soon. I wanted at least two episodes made for the
series. Also, the first episode really just ended with them meeting.
It didn't show at all what the series would be like, the second
episode did. It showed they will go off to different places, going
through things, talking, trying to find out who had those sunglasses
last.
Site Update: May 13th, 2005
I have finally written an article.
It is titled Bye Bye Capcom. It is just about Capcoms relationship
with Nintendo over the years and how it has deteriorated.
That must have been the last article I have written. I have never been
that good at writing articles, so I tend to stay away from the matter.
As you can probably tell, I tend to rant on and on. Same if I were to
make some articles. But who knows, maybe I'll make another one
someday.
Site Update: May 16th, 2005 - Joey
Today is milestone at Nintendo City. Nintendo City now has another
staff member besides me.
Joe Man, who has sent in two reviews the last few days e-mailed me. He
said that he would try and send in at least one review every week. I
found that amazing and e-mailed him back thanking him.
He then e-mailed me and said:
"If you need any members for a staff, or anything in that area I would
love
to report news, reviews, etc. All up to you."
I thought if Joe Man is sending in a review a week, he deserves to be
staff member.
So it is all setup, Joe Man, who will now go by NonnerJonner is
Nintendo City's First Staff Member. (Besides me:P)
He is now a Global Moderator at the Forums, and has his own Nintendo
City e-mail address. You can now e-mail him at nonnerjonner@nintendocity.com
I have also made a staff page. It just gives some information about me
and NonnerJonner. And some information if you want to be a staff
member.
So now you should really see more updates around here.
Also, you will notice the name of the person who is typing here,
beside the Site Update bar above.
Also, on a slightly amusing note, NonnerJonner's first name is Joey,
and mine is too. The two staffers here are both Joey's:P
Wow, this is something I really never expected. Getting a staff
member. Never, ever thought it would happen. But the way I figured it,
he was sending in stuff every couple days. If someone is willing to do
that, he/she deserves to be staff.
Site Update: May 16th, 2005 - Joey
NonnerJonner has written a Castlevania DS Preview, so I have opened up
a Previews Section. Hopefully we will add more previews soon.
I have added 16 Castlevania DS Screenshots.
Yep, NonnerJonner liked to make previews. I actually took the section
down a few days ago, it only had 3 previews, and all the games were
out already. I would open it again if someone wants to make them, I
just don't have the time for something like that. So many other sites
have excellent previews, so I stick to other things.
Site Update: June 4th, 2005 -
Joey
Whoa, it's been awhile since an update.
To be honest there have been many changes in my life in the last few
weeks, nothing that will effect my work on Nintendo City; just a
reason for the lack of updates.
Well, I am in the beginning stages of making a new section, not a
shrine for those who would like to see another one. (I have got to
make another shrine soon.)
The section is something completely new, and something I hope will
dramatically boost the content/information on Nintendo City.
I would like this new section to be up in a week or so, but I have
never been good with setting deadlines on here. But at worst it should
be done by the end of June.
Ok ok, this is kind of funny. The section I began work on, is the
Games Database which opened several months later. Wow I was way off,
opened by June. :P
I started it, made abunch of NES Descriptions, then sort of got busy
on other things.
Site Update: June 5th, 2005 - Joey
Nintendo City has a 3rd staff member!
Jhet from the forum asked to be a staff member. I jokingly asked him
if the world had gone mad, because he's a sony supporter, and this is
obviously a Nintendo Fan Site. I asked him what he could offer.
He said he had/has a NES, SNES, GBA, DS, and Gamecube. He says that
while he is a sony supporter, he will always like the classic Nintendo
systems. And Nintendo City is about the classic Nintendo as well as
new. I guess he'll be the rebel staff member, it makes for some
interesting debates on the forum.
He has been added to the staff page, he is also a Global Moderator at
the forums.
You can now e-mail him at jhet@nintendocity.com
Yep, that is when Jhet joined. He sent in one thing,
then sort of vanished. The thing is, I try and trust people. If
someone says they want to be staff and will send things in, I tend to
believe them. Now I try to be a little strict about it, have them send
in a few things first. But they can always just stop after awhile.
Site Update: June 5th, 2005 - Joey
First off, this is the last update done with a name besides the date.
For one, It has really annoyed me. (I'm not sure why.)
And secondly, NonnerJonner sent me his Animal Crossing Review.
He didn't include what he wants to say as an update here, just the
review.
I don't think he really cares what is said here, as long as the stuff
he does gets put up soon, and people know it here.
And this is when the name beside the update ended. It did annoy me in
a way, and it was a little pointless. When NonnerJonner, or any other
staff member since sends something in, I get it in an email or on the
forum, I then add it to the site and post the update, and NonnerJonner
never really sent in what he wanted to update to say. He didn't really
care, he just wanted his submission put up.
Site Update: June 10th, 2005
Today's update is a boring one all right. It is about Nintendo City
and not Nintendo.
Well, I was looking in a box the other day and found Nintendo City's
original layout. I layout I thought I'd lost it when my computer
crashed, but I found a back-up CD.
I really liked that layout, and it was hard to move from it. It was
basic, and old-school.
Well, rather than just show a few screenshots of it, I have put the
whole thing online in the About section. I also wrote a little about
the original layout and my thoughts on it.
Now you can view it just like it was May 26th, 2004 on Nintendo City.
I was looking through some old backup CDs I had made. I found the
original Nintendo City layout. I am still fond of it, I just wanted to
share it, not like anyone cares. I just go there sometimes, to get in
touch with my Nintendo City Roots, it reminds me why I started the
site.
Site Update: June 24th, 2005
A section I should have put in place awhile ago is now open.
It is a contributors section.
Whenever anyone sends in anything to Nintendo City, their name or
alias as well as a link to what they sent in will be added there.
When someone has sent in more than 1 thing, they will be given their
own page filled with links to all the stuff they have sent in.
Also, if a contributor wishes too, they can send in a profile for
their page.
I also went into every page of submitted stuff and added a link at the
bottom of the pages linking to that contributor's page.
So if you like someone's style of reviews, just click the link and
read all the reviews by that person.
When I started the site I never really expected anyone to submit
anything, made the odd thing, every couple months. But incredibly, I
started to get more and more submissions. I thought I'd better start a
contributors section.
I also thought it was good to give each person their own page if they
submit more than 1 thing. This way you can read someone's review or
comic for example, and like their style, you click the link to go to
their contributors page, and then you can see all their comics are
reviews.
Site Update: July 10th, 2005
Awhile ago I found an interesting PHP Script.
I all of a sudden thought I might as well have that on Nintendo City.
Maybe someone will like it.
Unfortunately, unlike the rest of the site, you need Internet Explorer
5 or higher to use it.
Well, it's an Art Board. It allows you to draw pictures.
It's a nice basic one, like MS Paint. You can select from a variety of
colours and then draw a Nintendo Picture.
Once drawn you can save it to the site. Then it will be available for
others to see.
You and others can also leave comments for the pictures.
I quickly drew a NES Controller to show in the Gallery.
So, if you have IE 5+, then check it out.
I was just surfing the world wide web as they call it, and I came
across this interesting PHP Script for free, which allows you to draw
stuff. I thought it was interesting, so I downloaded and installed it
so people could draw Nintendo Related Pictures. Sometimes if I see
something cool like that I try and get it, make it do something
Nintendo Related.
Site Update: July 12th, 2005
I have made another comic.
It went in a way "The Bush" went.
The way where I thought it would be a simple 5 frame comic, and it
turned out to be a 32 frame comic.
Well, it's called The Princess has been kidnapped and is in the
Mushroom Kingdom Comics Section.
So, I hope you like it.
I just want to quickly comment on this comic. I started it off going
to be Toad telling Mario he has to save the Princess, Mario gets mad
and says not again, and it ends. But even though it's just a comic, I
didn't want to show Mario doing something like that. So the only
option was to make Mario playing a surprise.
Site Update: July 18th, 2005
I have received 2 comics by someone named Mike. These are the first
submitted comics to Nintendo City. I have made a new sub-section
called Submitted Comics.
It has both of Mike's comics,
they are called "The Stories of Mario and Luigi - Part 1"
and "The Stories of Mario and Luigi - Part 2"
This is when Mike sent in his first submission. The first comic
submission here, it was a milestone. Little did I know that this
"Mike" would become the person to send in more things than anyone
else, and become staff, and a great Global Mod on the Forum. Mike
still finds time to send in comics all the time. Usually I get
something every week from here, sometimes more. So thanks for ALL the
submissions Mike.
Site Update: July 20th, 2005
Mike is making these comics faster than Sonic the Hedgehog. Yeah, I
can say Sonic here, Sonic is on Nintendo systems now:)
Well, the 9th Part of The Stories of Mario and Luigi is up. So check
it out.
Faster than Sonic the Hedgehog, boy, I was sure clever. :P
Site Update: July 20th, 2005
Yet another comic has been sent in from Mike. This is his 10th comic.
It is also the 10th and seems like final comic in the series "The
Stories of Mario and Luigi"
It says "The End, For real this time."
So this probably is the last comic of the series.
But! it also says to look out for his next comic
"The Stories of Bowser and Baby Bowser"
So hopefully we'll see that soon.
Since Mike has sent in so many comics, and it seems like he'll send in
more, I have given him his own Comic sub-section called Mike's Comics.
It will be filled with all the comics he sends in.
Well, that's all for now.
I am so glad I gave Mike his own Comic section. It
was a risk in a way, he may have just stopped sending comics in, but
his comics section is HUGE now. He definitely deserves to have his own
section.
To shorten the update down, on August 6th, 2005, Jhet left the staff
and Craig Gilmore joined. The same thing has seemed to happen, 1
submission. I emailed Craig awhile ago, and he said he is working on
something, so I have left him on staff for now.
Site Update: August 8th 2005
The third episode of The Bower and Mallow Comic is now up.
It's not as long as episode 2 which had over 200 frames; but it has
91, and I think that's alright. They'll probably be that size from now
on, or smaller.
This episode just furthers the series, and shows how episodes are
gonna start to play out. I hope you enjoy.
Click here to see episode #3 of The Bowser and Mallow Comic
WOW! I didn't realize it has been so long since the last Bowser and
Mallow Comic. I gotta finish the 4th soon.
Site Update: August 12th 2005
I have also received a very interesting story from someone named Shayn
Davis.
It is titled The Chronicles of Srevermore; and while it may sound like
it has nothing to do with Nintendo, it does.
What if something made Bowser a mighty enemy; more powerful than you
would ever expect or imagine? Well you will see in this story, and it
leaves off making you wonder what is going on, and what is going to
happen next.
This is part one, and I am excited to read part two when it's done.
So for now, check part one out.
I love The Chronicles of Srevermore. It is a very
exciting series. Shayn Davis sent in a few more after that, but the
series hasn't ended. It may never end, sad. I'd love to see it
continue. It was the first Nintendo Fan Fiction story I was just drawn
to, I loved reading it, it kept me on edge. But thankfully I have read
some other great Fan Fiction stories since then.
Site Update: August 22nd 2005
Long time contributor NES Hero has joined the staff. I'm happy to have
him part of the Nintendo City staff. You can check out his profile on
the Staff Page.
Nintendo City has its first Virtual Boy Review. This is the Nintendo
system I haven't been able to try out yet, so I am glad that someone
who is lucky enough to have one has sent in a review for a game. It's
of Mario Clash. So check it out.
airfiggy, who sent in the Mario Clash Review, has also sent in a
Cheat/Code for Yoshi's Story.
Now NES Hero hasn't sent in as many submissions as
other staff, but I am sure glad he is staff. He has submitted his
first thing ALONG time ago, I have known him along time. I knew of him
before I started Nintendo City. I still hear from him, he's busy, it
happens, I know. He says when he's not so busy he'll send something
in, and I believe him.
It was sure exciting to get a Virtual Boy Review. I don't think I'll
ever get the chance to have one, so it was sure nice to get a review
for a Virtual Boy Game, I got another Virtual Boy review after that,
it was very exciting to get as well, I would have been happy having
just 1.
Site Update: September 16th 2005
Wayne Stewart is now a staff member!!!
He is the writer of the weekly fan fiction series Shift, and has also
sent in some reviews. He is now a staff member. He seems to know alot
of cheats and codes, because he sent a whole bunch in. Check out the
Cheats and Codes Section for a whole bunch of them. He has also done
Episode 2 of Shift, titled Chrono.
Wayne Stewart has sent in some cool things. Glad to have him on staff.
I love his Diaries of Mario Fan Fiction Series.
Site Update: September 16th 2005
I haven't been updating all the news I could have been.
The primary reason, is it just took to long the old way I had it set
up.
I have now fixed that. I can now simply log onto a web-based program,
and add the news. This is a very quick and easy way.
Also, by using this program, it allows visitors to quick and easily
add comments for each news report.
I can now say, there will be more news shown on Nintendo City.
On the subject of News, Nintendo has revealed its Revolutionary
Controller.
I am incredibly excited to say the least, go to the news page to check
it out.
Now this was a NICE thing to have happen. It took to long to update
the news. Before, this cut the time dramatically, and when I post news
it just automatically shows up on the right-hand side of the site,
before I had to do it manually, and it has a comment system built in.
So I don't have to make a new topic on the forum, and link it. I like
it SO MUCH, makes everything way easier.
Site Update: October 2nd 2005
I was contacted by someone a couple weeks ago about hosting. I said if
he could wait until my hosting was upgraded, I would love to host his
site.
He waited, and now Nintendo City will be hosting another Nintendo
Related Fan Site. He doesn't want me to give out a link to it yet,
since it's not fully up online yet. But I can tell you this. It's a
Famicom Fan Site. Which I think is fantastic. There are a few NES Fan
Sites; but not many if any English Famicom Fan Sites.
So expect a link to it, as well is its button in the navigation strip
soon.
He also said I could give out his E-Mail Address, so here it is.
famicomfan@gmail.com
I am guessing you can e-mail him with contributions for his site, as
well as questions and suggestions. Just no spam:P
FamicomJL contacted me and asked for hosting for a Famicom Fan Site he
wanted to make. I thought, and still think it's a great idea. You
don't really see any Famicom Fan Sites in english. So I made him a
sub-domain and he started work on his site.
It is still in development. But it has come ALONG way. I check it
almost every day. It gets bigger all the time, I think the launch is
soon. I bet next year I'll be talking about the launch.
Site Update: October 4th 2005
I made a Revolution Section. It has all the officially released
Revolution Images. I didn't resize any of them, some are quite large.
I also wrote an article on how the Revolution and DS will connect to
the internet, as well as another article on how the Revolution will
download games.
I also have some info on the specs and price of the Revolution.
I will have another article about the Revolution soon.
Well, I was REALLY Excited about the Revolution then. I still am now,
but all I could think about and talk about was the Revolution. So I
made a section showing off pictures of it, and some info on it. Still
can't wait until it comes out, I know it WILL change the way we play
games.
Site Update: October 7th 2005
I have made a comic for the Mushroom Kingdom Section, that I have been
thinking of for months. I just never bothered to make it until now.
It is titled The beginning of Super Mario Kart. It's just all the
Super Mario Kart Racers, all in the same back-drop; talking before the
Mario Kart tournament began.
I just want to say about this comic. I had the idea for it for months
and months. I had always wanted to make it for some reason, and I
finally did. The thing is, this is just the first installment of it.
There will someday be one for Mario Kart 64 and Double Dash and so on.
Site Update: October 9th 2005
Wayne Stewart is starting up a new Fan Fiction series, The Diaries of
Mario. I read the first part, and love it. I really hope he keeps up
with it. It's untold tales of Mario, and it's written from Mario's
perspective.
So make sure to check it out.
Yep, that is when the Diaries of Mario Series started. I really like
this series. It's too bad Wayne stopped making them, who knows, maybe
he'll bring the series back someday.
Site Update: October 10th 2005
MattC or MattC13 of the forum, has asked to join the staff. I replied
asking if he was serious, and not just bored, asking if he would send
some stuff in.
He replied and said he was serious, so MattC13 is now a Staff Member.
Yep, MattC13 joins the staff. He has sent in some cool stuff,
glad to see him on staff.
Site Update: October 11th 2005
Another person joins the cast. . .I mean staff:P
Mike who has been sending in comics for awhile now, has asked to be
staff.
He's sent in so much stuff, I'm surprised he hadn't asked already.
So continue to look forward to Mike's Submissions, but he is now
staff.
To celebrate him becoming staff, I have moved his Comics section out
of the Submitted Comics Section, and into the Comics Section. There is
now a link to it on the navigation bar.
He has also sent in part 2 of Bomb-omb City.
Tyler Alverson who sent in the Old Skool Nintendo Comic 1 posted a
very good looking Nintendo Scene on the forum. We talked, and he has
been so kind as to allow his Nintendo Scenes and Sprites to be on
Nintendo City in his own section.
So check out Tyler's Scenes and Sprites Section to see some cool
Nintendo Scenes and Sprites. I currently have his Mushroom Kingdom
Scene as my computer's wallpaper. Right now there are two Scenes and
one Sprite there.
Tyler has also sent in Old Skool Nintendo Comic 2, and a One Liner.
Great day. Mile had sent in so much stuff, and still does. He
definitely deserves to be a staff member, he also deserves to have his
Comic Section in the navigation bar. Thanks again for all your
submissions Mike.
And I was so impressed when Tyler showed off his scenes on the forum.
They are amazing. I told him if he wants a section, he can have one.
The scenes and sprites in there are so cool.
Site Update: October 14th 2005
I have always thought about opening a Release Dates Section, but it
wasn't until Wayne Stewart asked to open one, that I did.
Wayne Stewart has sent in U.S/Canada Release Dates for the Gamecube.
Now, I don't think its right to just have U.S/Canada Release Dates. So
I collected Release Dates for both Australia and United Kingdom. I
have collected release dates for the Gamecube, GBA, and DS. You can
view the dates by system, or in a master list showing them all.
I will check every week to see if any release dates have been added or
changed for Australia and United Kingdom.
I have contacted Wayne Stewart to make sure he wants to be in charge
of the U.S./Canada Release Dates. If he does great, if he doesn't,
I'll check it every week as well.
Wayne emailed me some Release Dates for the US, and I collected some
from United Kingdom and Australia.
Sadly I could never find time to update that section and maintain it,
I had to shut it down. Maybe someday it will re-open, maybe not.
Site Update: October 17th 2005
Tyler Alverson has ask to become a staff member. I said sure, so he's
now staff.
With every staff member Nintendo City gets I am happily surprised. I
never thought Nintendo City would get a staff. It's a nice surprise.
Tyler has sent in two more scenes, as well as a bunch more sprites.
He has also sent in two artworks and two animated gifs he made. So I
added an artwork and animated gifs page to his section.
This is when Tyler joined the staff. I'm happy to have him aboard, he
send him some nice looking sprites and scenes as well as come other
things.
Site Update: October 18th 2005
Another day, another staff member:P
That's right, Danny vd Baard joins the staff. He's been recently
submitting stuff, and has asked, so he is now a staff member.
I kind of want to block this out.:P
Danny vd Baard has sent in some things and asked to be a staff member,
so I made him one. Then one day on the forum he called another member
a VERY inappropriate name someone should never use. I pmed him and
asked him to explain himself. He just replied with swears and started
swearing and spamming the forum, so I was forced to ban him. He then
started to email me with swears.
I took him off staff, I saw no other choice. Never thought that would
happen.
Site Update: October 29th 2005
I have made a sequel to my Comic A Warp Zone Mishap, it is titled
Another Warp Zone Mishap.
I don't know why, but I liked the Warp Zone Mishap Series. I know I
will eventually make a few more.
Site Update: November 1st 2005
We have another Staff Member here. Emily Fieldus or Emily F on the
forum has joined the staff.
This is odd to me. She had submitted a few things than asked to be
staff. I made her staff, then she just completely disappeared. I had
to eventually take her off staff.
Site Update: November 5th 2005
I have made a comic for the Random Comics Section. Now this has to be
the weirdest comic I have ever made. The reason being it was not
entirely done in a computer painting program. But rather with real
images.
I got some consoles together, and took some pictures, and gave them
captions to have a story. I actually had a fun time doing it, so I
know I'll be making a sequel eventually. Well, the comic is titled
Console Wars.
I remember this. I had just been given access to a Digital Camera. I
just kept thinking it would be cool to make a comic with real
pictures. I thought it would be funny to have the xbox and ps2 being
enemies to the Gamecube, and then have all these Nintendo Systems show
up with NES Zapper guns.
I have actually thought of ideas for a sequel, and a sequel after
that. I will make a sequel to it eventually.
Site Update: December 3rd 2005
I have made two tests. One about Donkey Kong Country and another about
the Super Mario Bros. Series. So test your DK and SMB Knowledge.
And I'm not sure why, but I feel refreshed with the site, I feel sort
of like I did when I first started the site, I want to work on it
alot, and make an update every day.
So there should be another update later today, and another tomorrow,
and the next day and so on for awhile.
I went through a brief period of wanting to make tests. I still do,
that section is very undeveloped, and I really want to build it up.
Site Update: December 4th 2005
Prince Peasley has submitted two Comics, Episodes 1 and 2 of A Super
Mario World Comic titled Pipes.
I got Pipes from Prince Peasley, and I love this series. Little did I
know I'd get tons more Pipes comics and a few other by him. He also
become a big poster on the forum and became a Global Mod. I'm really
glad he's part of Nintendo City.
Site Update: December 9th 2005
goombario64 of the forum has sent in Issue 1 of a comic series titled
Adventures of Goombario.
Adventures of Goombario is a great series too, great to read them.
Goombario makes some good comics, and is a great poster in the forum,
glad he is part of Nintendo City as well.
Site Update: December 13th 2005
There was a huge unlisted amount of Submitted Trivia Tests, I was
amazed.
I had to sift through 386 tests to delete the ones that made no sense
at a quick glance. At the end of this sifting, I was left with about
150 tests that made sense on a quick glance. I then started to add all
these tests to the Submitted Tests Page.
They are now added.
But having so many Tests to add, all at one time. I can't possibly
right now look through every single one for errors. So if you find any
errors at all, please contact me through this form I have set up. If
you leave a Name or Nickname, I will add you to the Contributors Page
as a Trivia Test Fact Checker.
I would like to thank everyone who has submitted a test. I am very
sorry they weren't up alot sooner, I have fixed the problem, and
submitted trivia tests will now go up soon after their creation from
now on.
People and Spam bots were making so many trivia tests. I fell way
behind, I just got so busy. There still are tons more tests since then
I have got to put up.
Thanks to everyone who has made a test.
Site Update: December 16th 2005
I have made a sub-section for the Pictures Section. It is a Logos
Section which contains various Logos for Nintendo Games, Systems, and
a couple other Nintendo Related Categories.
I had access to abunch of Nintendo Logos. I thought I'd share them in
a section. I should put more in their soon.
Announcement: January 5th 2006
NES FANZ is back up! It has a new look, and as always, some amazing
content.
So go check out NES FANZ.
Doesn't really involve Nintendo City but NES FANZ was down for months
while Jason was redesigning it. It was an exciting day when it
re-opened. NES FANZ is an awesome site.
Site Update: January 6th 2006
Koopa Brigade #14 is out of hiatus with Episode 4. I was talking to
Mike a.k.a raps_mvp53 online. I was talking about how every episode of
Koopa Brigade #14 has to start fresh, a new plot every time. He
suggested an Episode where they go to a bar. I thought about it and
realized I could turn that into an episode.
So I want to thank Mike for the idea of bringing the brigade to a bar.
And I took Koopa Brigade #14 out of hiatus and made a new episode. I
was talking to Mike, a.k.a rasp_mvp, and he suggest for an idea they
go out clubbing. I thought about it, and thought it could work.
It made me think, maybe Koopa Brigade #14 should be a request comic
from now on. Maybe I should get people to say what they want the
Brigade to do in every episode. Maybe I'll do that.
Site Update: January 7th 2006
slasher21774 has sent in her 5th NES Review. I thank him once again
for sending something in. It is for River City Ransom, so check it
out.
I gotta mention slasher somewhere here. She writes some very good
reviews, and for the old classics, which I love. She has even sent in
screenshots with her reviews, which is even better. She has also
active on the forum, and posts some good to read posts, and is a great
moderator.
Site Update: January 7th 2006
I have made screenshot pages for screenshots that were only available
on reviews.
So there are some screenshot pages added for NES, SNES, N64, GCN, and
GBA
Oh yeah. This is what happens. When someone sends in a review for a
game, I try and get or make some screenshots to go along the side of
the review. I don't usually give those screenshots their own page in
the Screenshots section. There have been more reviews submitted since
then where I made/got screenshots and didn't make them their own page.
I'll be doing that soon.
Announcement: January 9th 2006
I know a Mario Party for the DS would be an amazing game. The DS has
some unique features, it would bring new gameplay to the Mario Party
Series.
It could also be played online with people across the world through
Nintendo Wi-Fi.
That is why I have started a Mario Party for the DS Petition.
It has its own sub-domain, and domain name.
Please go to www.mariopartyds.com
When they finally make a Mario Party for the DS, the site will become
a shrine to the game.
So if you want a Mario Party on the DS, then please sign the petition
and show your support with the button below. E-Mail me, and
MarioPartyDS.com will link back to you. Thanks to anyone who signs the
petition.
Well, I have always thought since the DS came out it should have a
Mario Party, and I have heard many other say this as-well. I also read
the interview with Shuichiro Nishiya at Hudson Soft about how
they think the DS would be great for one. So I started the petition.
Now as people have said, this is pointless, it won't effect them
making one or not.
This is kind of true, but as Jason Hogan from NES FANZ put it, it's
really more fuel for the fire. It will help drive awareness for the
possibility of this game.
Announcement: January 20th 2006
Sorry for not having an update in awhile, but I have been very busy.
One of the things that preoccupied me was getting this announcement
ready.
Today is the launch of The Nintendo City Network of Nintendo Fan
Sites.
I have registered NintendoCity.Net and I am now offering free Nintendo
Fan Site Hosting. I am currently looking to host 5 sites on it.
Although one spot is already called for.
At NintendoCity.Net you will find links to all the sites hosted by
Nintendo City, as well as when any of them update. It also shows
Nintendo News.
So if you are in need of Nintendo Fan Site Hosting,
then check out NintendoCity.Net
I will now start and update Nintendo City again.
Oh yes, The Nintendo City Network of Nintendo Fan Sites.
Or TNCNONFS for short. lol
I always see many Nintendo Related Fan sites hosted on these Free
Hosts. Don't get me wrong, some are pretty good. But most will just
fill your site with ads. I hate to see that when going to these Fan
Sites. That is why I started this Free Hosting.
I won't put ads or require you to post in a forum, if you want free
hosting for your Nintendo Related site, I'll give it to you.
It really started though when someone on the forum asked for hosting.
I wanted to give hosting, but I was already hosting a few other sites
on nintendocity.com
So I got nintendocity.net and got its own hosting to host these sites.
Site Update/Announcement: March 4th 2006
What can I say, no update in almost 2 months!
Can't believe it happened.
First off I would like to apologize to everyone who have submitted
stuff.
It should have been up much sooner. I should have at least e-mailed
you about it.
I'm sorry.
I am now trying to get all submissions up. So if you have submitted
something, expect to see it up in the next couple of days. I thank you
for sending it in.
Now before I get on with todays updates, I gotta say. As I also said
on the forum.
Every time I have disappeared for awhile would be for one of two
reasons.
The first would be some sort of emergency or issue, usually family
related.
That I would have to give my full attention.
But secondly, I seem to get distracted easily, and get very interested
in something else, some other project for awhile. So I do it, then get
bored and come back here. Then a couple months later I would get
distracted by something else, and the same thing would happen.
But this time was different. I finally just realized that I always
come back here.
At the end of the day, this is what I want to do with my free time. So
I am saying enough with other projects, I want Nintendo City to be my
permanent hobby. The thing I spend my free time on.
Now, to show I really do mean this. I have been working on two things
for the site. Two exciting things for me. One of them is a new section
that WILL be launching tomorrow or the next day. It is something I
have been thinking of doing on and off for months. But I finally
decided to do it, and it is ready to launch.
The second thing I will announce in a couple days. I am excited about
it as well; and it isn't another layout incase anyone is wondering.
This is what I call the Turning Point for me and the site.
This has happened since the site opened. Maybe I wouldn't disappear
for 2 months, but for a week or two every once in awhile. And most of
the time I just got preoccupied with something else, lost interest and
came back.
I don't know why, but the second I get an idea to do something, I just
can't stop doing it for awhile. For example, there was a period I was
all into the Operating System Linux. I looked all into it, I got a
copy of it, and installed it on my computer.
This kept me from doing anything with the site for a week or two.
But eventually I got bored with it and came back.
This is really the turning point because, it just finally hit me, I
finally realized. I was so stupid, it was right there in-front of me
the whole time. Nintendo City.
Every time I got bored, I would come back to Nintendo City. It's what
I love to do.
So now when I start to get occupied with something else, I just remind
myself that I will get bored with it and end up back here, so I might
as well not leave.
And trust me, this is working. Since then I have started to get
interested in all sorts of things. But I just reminded myself of
Nintendo City and I stayed on track.
I love this site, I don't want to leave it again.
Site Update: March 6th 2006
This is the launch of the new section I spoke of a couple days ago.
It is a Games Database. Every game that is and gets added to this
database will have a Description for the game, describing what the
game is all about.
Every game in the database will also include the Genre(s), Amount of
Players, Developer, Publisher, and Release Dates. There will also be a
box or cart image if I have one.
There are currently a little over 100 games in the database. Ranging
from the NES, SNES, N64, and Gamecube. Games from Nintendo Handhelds
should be added soon.
Also, every game in the database shows if it has any Reviews,
Screenshots, Instructions, FAQ's, Walkthroughs, Pictures, Quizzes, Fun
Facts, Tricks, Tips, Cheats, Codes, and anything extra or
miscellaneous.
The database is a way to unite all the sections together.
For example, you can view the Super Mario World Game Page, and see if
there are any Reviews, Screenshots, Trivia, Pictures, etc. available
for that game.
This database also gives me a further drive to give more content. I
want every game in the database to have a review, screenshots, trivia,
etc. So I will try and give it that.
This is a section I cannot leave alone, it needs to be updated
frequently, so I will try and add a game to it on a regular basis.
But unfortunately I don't own or have played every Nintendo game, and
as much as I would love to, I probably never will. So I need your help
to add Descriptions for games in the database.
So if there is a game that is not in the database that you think
should be, then please send in a Description for that game.
You can always e-mail it to me at webmaster@nintendocity.com or you
can send it in using a Form I have setup.
Any game that has been released on a Nintendo System can be added to
the database. It doesn't have to be Published or Developed by
Nintendo, as long as it was released for a Nintendo System. This may
seem untrue as right now 100 of the games in the database are
Published by Nintendo. But what can I say, I play mainly Nintendo
Published Games, that's why this is Nintendo City.
You will now see a Games Tab on the Navigation Bar. With it you can
view the Games in the Database.
I think and hope this will unite the site together, and get me to
update more frequently.
Well, I gotta continue to update the submissions that I got when I
disappeared. After that I will be adding games to the database, and
updating other sections more frequently.
I will be announcing something else in a day or two.
It finally opened. I started work on it months ago and lost interest
for some reason.
But since I had just disappeared from here for those two months, I
wanted to get back on track with something like this. I am so glad I
opened it.
Last year I think I wrote that I didn't want to open one because there
are already sites out there that do it. But I really don't care, I'm
not going to let that stop me from doing something I want to do. It is
also something more than just a database of games. It helps unite all
the sections of the site together. If someone comes here and wants to
learn information on lets say Super Mario Bros. 3, they can go it its
Games Page and read all about it, see a Cart Image, its release info,
and see what this site has about it, such as Reviews, Screenshots,
Pictures, Trivia, and more.
I really do want to add some games to it every once in awhile. When
its a game I really like, it's fun to add it to the database.
Announcement and Site Update: March 12th 2006
Thedude3445 who has sent in many comics has joined the Nintendo City
staff. I am happy to see such an active submitter become a staff
member. I welcome him aboard.
Yep, this is when thedude3445 joined, or as I just changed his
username on the forum to Mr. Pickles. He has sent in so many comics,
and continue to do so. He really does deserve to be staff. Thanks for
all your comic submissions Mr. Pickles.
Site Update: March 31st 2006
Mike has also started work on a video/movie. It is called Nintendo
City the Movie.
He has already made a preview,
and it is now available in a new section titled Videos.
Since there is now a Vidoes section, I added 10 of my favourite
Nintendo Commercials. I have also mentioned a mini-side site I made
awhile ago, which contains a few Zelda Commercials.
Yep, Mike sent in a preview for a Nintendo City Movie he made
and I made section titled Videos and put it in there. I kind of like
having a Videos section. I may add more videos to it through-out the
year, its nice having.
And there you have it. Some talk about the last year of Nintendo City.
You must be VERY bored if you have read all this. Or really into
looking at the colour blue. lol
There is still so so much to do. Reading these updates and talking
about it tells me that. I have to make some more comics, some trivia
tests, get some more screenshots, build up the Games Database, write
some reviews, get more coverage on the news. So much I have got to do,
and so much I am excited to do.
I love updating now, I love making content for the site.
It is April 2nd, and 11:40pm. Twenty minutes until April 3rd and
Nintendo City is two years old. With this I will launch the Adventures
of Lolo Shrine.
I gotta tell you, I had so much fun making it. I didn't think I would
as much as I did, but It was fun. It makes me want to start on my next
shrine. I want a few more shrines by next year.
I want to thank everyone that has made all of this possible, there are
so many people. You know who you are, THANK YOU SO, SO, SO, SO, SO
MUCH.
Nintendo City two years in twenty minutes. I am very happy. It's not
much of a site now, but I hope that it will be soon.
