So what do you think about this cartoon? I love it! I prefer Tom over Jerry because he's so much cuter to me. Jerry is a little pesky, but he's cool too. I bet Tom is so embarrassed he couldn't even catch a mouse even once. Discuss here!

You like classic cartoons, do you? I have a feeling we're gonna get along.

I'm the world's biggest H-B fan (it IS by Hanna-Barbera, by the way, not Warner Bros. ), so naturally I love Tom & Jerry. The animation style is a little more conventional than the '60s Saturday Morning Cartoons style that I love, but it's still pretty damn good.



These drift effects are great.

They seem to be all over early H-B cartoons (along with some awesome stretching and squashing), which is great because they're like blurring in CGI - except from the fact that they don't distort the action like blurring does.



They have very well constructed facial expressions, too. They're emotive and expressive, but not over-exaggerated to the point that they're gross to look at.

But I've always found Tom and Jerry to be kinda bizarre characters. It's odd, because they're barely characters at all, I'd say - they lack any obvious personalities, so they tend to just cling to one trait. But it's less about the actual characters, more about the chemistry between those characters - that, and the slapstick violence, is what makes T&J so much fun.



I'd definitely say that Tom and Jerry isn't as fun to look at as later H-B cartoons, like The Flintstones or Top Cat, but that's sort of an unfair comparison - their '60s cartoons are probably the most entertaining cartoons ever. T&J is still pretty damn good, and it helped cartoons along their way of development, too.

Te new ones suck and have deleted violence and bad music (which is all they were about really, a muted T&J would be bad), but the old ones were pretty great.

Funny cartoon. The characters are really funny in how they are drawn and animated. I think it is now one of the classic cartoons. It is a cat and mouse game. They still show it (the old one) on Cartoon Network.
