We've been seeing several threads lately that have obviously broken the "no irrelevant posts" rules and it makes me beleive that some people don't exactly understand what spam threads are and why they are not exceptable. That is why I have put together this little guide to help you understand any questions you have about spam posting.

First off, what exactly is this spam word I've been hearing about?

Spam is a term used to describe posts with little or no point. Because they have no point, they are generally annoying as well. A way to help you remember this, think of SPAM as an acronym for STUPID POINTLESS ANNOYING MESSAGES.

Now that I know what spam means, what is considered spam?

That depends upon the discretion and judgment of the person who reads your post. What one may consider annoying and pointless may be considered acceptable by another. However most mods will agree to what is obviously spam. For example, a post that says "I MADE US THAT!" in the message body and nothing more has no point, subject, or productive placement; this means that is it both clearly stupid and annoying. A thread that says "Is this cool?" in the title and "I think Luigi is cool, what about you?" is a little generic but the level of "annoying and pointlessness" of it depends on the mind of the viewer. So please, try to post carefully.

my speling grammer isnt to good. is that spam?

That is a different rule altogether. Now you should watch your "spelling" and "grammar" carefully for certain. But if you spell badly in specific ways, it is considered spam. That is, if you spell badly purposely in 1337 speak for instance. Nobody cares if you mis-spell once and a while, but if you just spell horribly because you want to annoy people, THAT is spam.

I like attention, and spamming gets me it.

You arrogant little....! Look, even though spamming may get you attention, it is all negative. Nobody likes spam, and nobody likes spammers. If you spam constantly, YOU WILL BE BANNED.

Hey...about being banned. Someone locked my thread for it being spam. Will I get kicked off the site for that?

If you spam once in a blue moon, you won't get banned. You may get a warning but not a ban. You'll only be banned if you spam constantly. Never ending spam is annoying after all, and we don't tolerate it on our forum.

Is posting the same message over and over spam?

Without a doubt yes. Double/tripple/quadruple/etc. posts are when you post the same message over and over again. DO NOT POST THE SAME MESSAGE AGAIN AND AGAIN! And if you accidently double post, don't go "oh crap I double posted" within your thread. Just quietly report the double post and the mods will take care of it.

I saw this Random Posts board, what do I do there?

Random Posts is for posting things that don't quite fit in with the normal forum. In Random Posts, we are far more lenient about what is spam and what isn't because posts do not count in that board, and also because of the general types of posts made there. Now you should follow the other rules, and no go too crazy. Even in random posts, we don't want some stupid thread that says "ADASDASDKJKKLLJKLJK!!!!!! I"M MICKY MOOUUUUSE!" So avoid getting too random in there, but you can be more random than usual.

So there we are, that is my FAQ to SPAM threads.
