A Story Of Socialism

There was once this place.
This place had a name.
But is has been long forgotten.
Even the people who live there have forgotten it's name.
This makes for rather awkward conversation when asked where they live.
For they wouldn't be able to answer.
The name has been forgotten.

A passage from the World's Travelers Guide on the 'place'

Linus put the book down on his bedside table. Then he proceeded to lay down on his bed and look around his room. His room, if you could call it that, was a small square area with a bed, bedside table, and a chair. Linus has always wanted to go to the 'place', it seemed so nice there, everyone could own more stuff there then the current government allowed them to own here. Even owning this book could get Linus is trouble. Linus had to smuggle it though his friend Lerick. Poor Lerick got caught with some anti-government flyers, he got shoot down right on the spot.

Linus kept thinking about that day. It was a sunny Thursday afternoon, and the day was going great until Lerick got shot and his blood flew all over the sidewalk. They still haven't cleaned up that mess. Blood all over the sidewalk, dry and crusty, it made Linus sick. He wanted to get out of here even more.

Then his door flew open, two soldiers rushed in.
They started yelling at poor Linus.
All he did was acquire a book.
Where is the harm in that?

Linus was shot in the head, and his book was burned.

The message is, listen to your government.

They know best.

You misunderstand Communism completely. Communism is perfect, that's part of its concept. There are no flaws in Communism, and in a Communist state, everyone would be happy. But the problem is, there has never existed Communist state - only Socialist states attempting to achieve Communism. And Socialism is the problem. Socialism is when the general public is equal, but the government is above everyone else, taking away their rights in order to maintain equality. Communism is when EVERYONE is equal, and so nobody needs to be forced to do anything. Overall, Communism is pretty much impossible and I highly doubt that there will ever be a Communist country.

And while Socialist countries may be terrible places to live, it's not like the Capitalist countries (the "place" you speak of) are any better.

And yes of course, it would really only work if Jesus was the 'leader' of the country.

Of course it would nesacaraly be any better, but to the character  Linus it would seem better.

But the point is, this shouldn't be called "A Story Of Communism", because what happens to Linus is a result of Socialism, not Communism. In a Communist state, Linus would be allowed to think whatever he wanted. But USSR was a SOCIALIST state, and that's why he was killed for thinking in a way that the government didn't want him to - so you should change the title to "A Story Of Socialism".

I would very much like that, because then this story becomes a very good criticism of Socialism. Instead of a criticism of Communism - which would be pointless because A) Communism is inherently perfect and B) It doesn't exist.
