Description/Information: |

People have said this to be a sequel to Super Mario World 2:
Yoshi's Island. It does star Yoshi and Baby Mario, as well as have
Yoshi's Island style graphics, but the gameplay is very different.
Yoshi Touch & Go's gameplay is two parts. First part is Baby Mario
falling from the sky. You must guide him safely to the ground
where a Yoshi awaits, all the while trying to collect points. As
Baby Mario falls you can draw cloud-lines with the touch screen.
Drawing these lines can direct Baby Mario's path. You can use
these clouds so Baby Mario collects coins which wrack up points,
and to avoid enemies, which can kill Baby Mario!
You can also draw circles around enemies, this will put them in a
bubble. You can then using the stylus, push this bubble to Baby
Mario, to get even more points. (You can also draw bubbles around
coins.)
These points you collect do have a point besides getting a higher
score. The more points you get, the more Eggs the Yoshi in the
second Part can hold.
You can get rid of the clouds you draw by blowing into the
Microphone.
The second part involves Yoshi. This is main part of the gameplay,
as this part you can play literally forever if you don't lose!
Yoshi will constantly be moving across the screen. You cannot stop
him, but you can draw clouds and shoot eggs to help him. There
will be enemies, holes, and coins, which as stated above, you can
draw a circle around and push to Yoshi who is carry Baby Mario.
You can also shoot enemies and coins with eggs. Yoshi will run out
of eggs, but there are fruits Yoshi can eat to get more.
Yoshi can also jump if you touch him with the stylus. Touch him
while he is already jumping and he will jump higher and further.
You will also draw clouds that Yoshi can walk on.
There are four modes which will play like this, but with
variations.
Score Attack: This is just to collect the most points. So try and
get as many points in both the first and second part of the
gameplay. This mode also has an end, as Yoshi will reach a finish.
Marathon: This is a mode which can never end, as long as you don't
get killed.
First guide Baby Mario to the bottom, trying to get as much points
as possible, so your Yoshi can hold more eggs. Once you get to the
Yoshi Part, you will just try to go as far as possible, while
avoiding various enemies and holes. The areas you walk across are
slightly different every time. The goal here is just to get as far
as you can, to get a high score.
Time Attack: Some Toadies are carrying Baby Mario away! You
must shoot them down.
Challenge: Like Marathon Mode, except there is a timer as
you go across the world. If the timer runs out Kamek gets Baby
Mario and its Game Over! You collect time by shooting enemies and
getting coins.
The world design is also different then in Marathon Mode, as you
will see very large holes, which you will have to draw cloud-lines
to get across. There will also be tons of spiked enemies which
stay still. But if touched you die! So you must shoot any that are
in your path. Shooting these enemies will also add time.
Make sure you don't run out of eggs, or else you will most likely
hit an enemy and die. Getting fruit to replenish your egg count,
and using every egg wisely is key in this mode.
VS. Mode: There is also a vs. mode where two people, with
two DSes can play. It is first to reach the end wins! You will
have to clear enemies along your way. As you clear enemies, it may
make more enemies on your opponents screen, and vice versa.
Yoshi Touch & Go is a solid DS title, which provides hours of
endless game replayability. The game doesn't use the D-Pad or
buttons, just the stylus and the microphone once in awhile. |
