Diddy Kong Racing was one of the fastest selling N64 game. I think it might have been the fastest.
The racing in Diddy Kong Racing plays most like Mario Kart 64 than any other racing game. Very colourful unique tracks, with items you can pick up to shoot other players, make them slip, and get a boost for yourself.
A big plus of Diddy Kong Racing is you can ride in three vehicles. You can race in a traditional kart, a hover craft, or even an airplane. You can play as any vehicle on every tracks. Some have certain advantages to others on certain tracks.
This game is also a multiplayer mode. In this mode you can race any track available with up to 4 people. And all four people don't have to have the same vehicle. 2 could ride a kart, another a hovercraft, and the fourth an airplane.
There is also a battle modes. There is one where you have to drive around and collect things on kart. Another is a big lake, and you have to hover around and blast the other player, and another is you fly a plane, and collect eggs.
Another big plus to the game is its immersive 1 player mode. You get a world to drive or fly around in, and you enter different races from their. You unlock tracks this way. There is even big boss races this way.
