Much like the original Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr. keeps the same
great game style, with a new character. . .and new enemy.
This time Mario is the bad guy! Mario has kidnapped Donkey Kong,
and it is up to Donkey Kong's Kid, aptly named Donkey Kong Jr.
The game has a very similiar style to it's predessor, the gameplay
is different, but it has the same feel to it.
Like the original Donkey Kong, you start each stage near the
bottom, and have to make you way up to the very top, all the way
avoiding enemies and now some obstacles.
There are always enemies coming at DK Jr, but he can avoid them by
jumping over them, of just plain avoiding them.
A cool thing about the game is the vines. Stages have vines
hanging from above. DK Jr. has to climb these vines to get across,
and to the top of every stage. There are even these alligator type
creatures that will come chomping down the vines, all you can do
is avoid them.
There is of course platforms you can jump to, but if you fall from
a too high up spot, you will lose a life.
DK Jr. can sometimes hold onto two vines at once, which makes him
climb even faster!
Donkey Kong Jr. is a perfect sequel to Donkey Kong. You may be
play a different character, and be against the former hero, but
the gameplay feeling is the same. The game is just as addicting,
and just as fun.
If your looking for a fun simple action NES game, this is a sure
play. |
