One of the first amazing NES RPG's was Dragon Warrior.
Gameplay in Dragon Warrior plays like other RPG's.
You enter towns and talk to various people for chit-chat and
information to further your story. You travel fields and such and
encounter enemies that you have to fight in a classic RPG style.
HP and such.
You collect armour, weapons, and other items to aid in your
journey.
There are menus to do everything you need to do, change weapons,
use items, etc.
What makes Dragon Warrior Special? For one its story.
Years ago a brave warrior named Erdrick brought light back to the
land by defeating an evil being. He used a ball of light to defeat
this evil being.
The ball of light was then given to a king. The world was peaceful
for generations. But then the evil Dragonlord stole the ball of
light, and once again brought the world in chaos! Then, a great
seer Mahetta predicted that one day a descendent of Erdrick will
defeat the evil Dragonlord.
Who is this descendent? It is you! That's right it's up to you to
save the world by defeating the Dragonlord in Dragon Warrior for
the NES.
The story was good, but simply the game was just fun. It has some
good gameplay, and that is what makes a good game.
If you are in the market for an old 2D classic RPG, then Dragon
Warrior is definitely worth a look. |
