   Description/Information:

Excitebike is a very easy to learn game. But it has a little more complexities than other simple action games.

In Excitebike you hop on a motorbike and drive right across the screen. There are 4 straight paths right above eachother. You can freely move and up and down on these paths to avoid things on the road.

You actually get 2 speeds in this game. One speed is a good paced speed, and another is a fast speed. The problem with the fast speed, is if you use it for too long your motorbike overheats and you can't race for a few seconds.
Well, you just drive right across the straight dirt road, and there will be obstacles, like hills and ramps that you will go over. Once you go over one you have to position your motorbike so it lands flat against the ground. This basic thing set a president for future games where you have to line your vehicle up.
There are also dirt patches on the road you have to avoid by going up and down from the 4 routes.
There are also these barricades. You can avoid them, or! you can do a wheelie and go right over them, if you don't time it just right, you will wipe out.
As you can see Excitebike isn't a very simple game where you just hold A and move up and down avoiding things.

There are 3 modes in Excitebike:

Mode 1:
You race each track alone and try and beat the 3rd, 2nd, or 1st time. If you beat at least the 3rd place time you move onto the next track.

Mode 2:
This time you're not alone. You will be racing against 3 computer players. They will get in your way and even knock you over.

Mode 3:
Mode 3 is a design mode! There were other NES games that featured a design mode, but this one was so simple, and whatever you created was fun to ride in.
Also, there are many types of stuff you could build. There isn't just one type of hill and ramp. There are many things you can put into your track and then race around.

Excitebike is a fun game. Nintendo could have made a simple move up and down and avoid the obstacles game, but they instead gave it all this other new type of gameplay. that set a standard, and gave ideas for future games to come.
If you like racing games, this is a must have for your NES.
