The offset of the Super Mario Bros. Trilogy.
Without explaining in great detail what most people already know,
I will sum it up.
Nintendo had originally made another Super Mario Bros. 2 game, it
was very similar to the first. It is actually the Lost levels on
Super Mario All-Stars.
But Nintendo thought it being so similar to the first Super Mario
Bros, so it wouldn't sell well.
Even then they wanted to give us gamers something new every time.
So did they create a completely new game? The answer is No. They
bought an existing game called Doki Doki Panic. All they did was
change the characters in that game to Nintendo characters, there
you have Super Mario Bros. 2.
Super Mario Bros. 2 is a fun platformer. You go across 7 worlds.
In each level you just try and get to the end and defeat a boss
character in one piece. You have to jump to different platforms,
and climb up and down ladders and beanstalks. There are also a
variety of enemies. Unlike in other Mario games, you don't jump on
them to destroy them. You can jump on top of them and then pick
them up. Once you pick them up you can throw them at another enemy
or just throw them into a hole. There are also roots all over the
levels. Which you can pull out and use against enemies. You will
have to be fast, use good timing, and even use bombs in this game.
You also get to choose between 4 characters. Mario, Luigi, Toad,
and the Princess. Each has their own unique style. Mario is an
all-around character. Luigi has this crazy flutter jump that makes
him go high, but it's also a little hard to control. Toad can pull
up roots very fast. The Princess can actually float for a period
of time. Unlike the other two Super Mario Bros. games, this one is
only 1 player.
Super Mario Bros. 2 may be a step out of the usually Mario type
games, but it's still a fun classic. It's a fun game, period. It
also gave use new Nintendo Characters that are still being used to
this day, such as Shy-Guys and Birdo.
If you haven't played this game, then you have got to play it. It
has been ported to the SNES and GBA. |
