Today during Nintendo’s keynote at the Game Developer’s Conference, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced that the Wii will be seeing several Final Fantasy games on WiiWare and the Virtual Console.
For WiiWare, Square Enix will release two games: My Life as a Darklord, the sequel to the hit WiiWare game My Life as King, and Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, the sequel to Final Fantasy IV that was previously only available as a cellphone game.
Square Enix will also release the first six Final Fantasy games on the Virtual Console starting in May in Japan. The US will get the games that were originally released here out of the first six games (presumably meaning we’ll only be getting three games: I, IV, and VI).
All of these games can be expected in 2009 and Iwata said that Square Enix will be giving more details soon.
