Today, a new update for the Wii is available that will allow you to play games directly from an SD card and also download from the Wii Shop Channel to an SD card. With the update, an SD card menu is added to the Wii’s menu and when launched will display the message: “Welcome to the SD Card Menu! Here, you can launch channels saved on SD Cards by temporarily utilizing the Wii System Memory”. At Nintendo’s keynote today at the Game Developer’s Conference, Bill Trinnen announced the new directly-to-SD feature. The update also added support for SD cards up to 32 gigs. Meaning that the storage problems facing Wii owners have finally been resolved.
