  Game Name: Bomberman
System: Nintendo DS
Genre: Action
Developer: Hudson Soft
Publisher:
Ubisoft
Release Date: June 21st, 2005
Players: Up to 8

Introduction:

Bomberman has graced nearly every console to date, and even had a run in the arcade.  With the recent release of the Nintendo DS, Ubisoft picked up the rights to publish the next in the series.  Not given a fancy number, or a subtitle, it is aptly titled Bomberman.

Story:

It has always seemed that there should be some redeemable story behind Bomberman, yet we never got the scoop.  And the next reiteration is no exception.  The only real story we get is something about a crystal exploding, and 10 of its shards behind spread out.  And you as Bomberman must collect them all.  How exciting!

Gameplay:

With so many Bomberman games released it has given developers a lot of retrospective on what the flaws in the series are.  I personally have never found any.  The animations of Bomberman and the enemies are all smooth.  The buttons are responsive, and that is especially important in Bomberman.  Putting a bomb in the wrong spot could have deadly results.  The single player on the other hand is quite try and usually boring.  The main reason anybody would buy this game is because of the wonderful multiplayer.

I give the gameplay: 10/10

Graphics:

Any system that can deliver 3-D graphics can deliver exceptional 2D graphics.  Everything is bright and crisp.  The 3-D graphics when the game loads are pretty impressive as well.

I give the graphics: 10/10

Sound:

As everybody knows the DS has very impressive speakers, and Bomberman uses them.  The explosions sound good, and the little voice sounds terrific as well.  My only problem is that at times you can't exactly make out what it says.

I give the sound: 9/10

Replayability:

The replay value in Bomberman is great.  Although the single player is the same things over and over, the multiplayer is phenomenal.  With the array of items at your dispense you'll be playing the multiplayer for quite some time.

I give the replayability: 9/10

Challenge:

I don't know whether it's me sucking at the game, or if it's just hard.  The first stages are very easy but as you progress it gets harder and harder.  And with your friends that are sure to be pro only adds to the challenge.

I give the challenge: 10/10

Value:

With the tremendous amount of replayability comes great value.  If you have a lot of friends this game is worth the $30.00.

Overall:

Simply put, if you're a long time fan of the series you'll love it, if not you'll love it.  The games delivers on nearly all platforms.  And I recommend it to anybody looking for a good time

Overall I give Bomberman a 9/10
