Introduction:
When you plant a bomb, you atomically run like hell right? Why?
“IT’S A BOMB MAN IT’S GONNA BLOW!” Yet strangely enough Bomberman
does the complete opposite. He doesn’t listen. He just waddles along
like any other ordinary day. You can stand it in single-player but
Multiplayer you just want to die. He goes about the half the rate as
he does in the 90’s SNES-and even that was too slow. But multiplayer
is where the party’s at. Bomberman screams for multiplayer. In fact,
if I didn’t have multiplayer it wouldn’t be a Bomberman game. Hours
and past like seconds and by God you don’t care. Playing on the
speed levels is the best. It could almost top Wario ware Inc. in the
multiplayer department. Also, certain modes use the microphone. You
can even voice-activate shields. It responds brilliantly to what you
say. Still, in the end, Bomberman fails to provide the amusement the
old ones did. Sometimes it gets close (epically with the microphone
mode and eight player) but every level doesn’t play out as good as
it could be. I can tell this tough, single player is RUBBISH.
Sound/Music:
Way too jolly. It’s like stuff you’d get out of Winnie the pooh. It
would be better if we had more mischievous music, especially when
you’re trying to kill someone with bombs.
Graphics:
Bright and colorful and nice explosions. It is Functional. An update
from GBA graphics, but it still could be better. And why is he tall
and slim? We want the original 90S nostalgia style. Could work with
3D though.
Gameplay:
Generally confusing really. It’s really hard to get an un-mixed
result. Single player is crap. Multiplayer has its faults but
overall its god. There’s nothing like firing up a wireless match
between your mates and rubbing it in their faces when you win. The
microphone works great, almost as good as the one in Nintendogs.
It’s even more fun when you shout that word that rhymes with chuck.
The game’s also tight with power-ups. Sometimes the power-ups are so
crap it’s pointless. Like all Bomberman veterans know, It’s going to
have some crazy levels. Unfortunately some of these levels are a bit
too crazy and ruin the gameplay. So overall I’d give gameplay about
half-way because of the mixed-decisions.
Replay Value:
This is where Bomberman fails the most. Single player ends too
quickly (if you even dared to play it) but the multiplayer sort of
makes up for it. Really, without the multiplayer, it wouldn’t really
have ANY replay value.
Overall:
Bomberman is the same old dude as he’s always been. The same quick
and fast action paced game ruined by the faulty single player mode.
Get rid of it, cut the price buy ten pounds and Hudson will be onto
something. This could have been THE Bomberman game but isn’t and
never will be.
Overall Score:
7.0/10
