  Game Name: Kirby Canvas Curse
System: Nintendo DS
Genre: Action
Developer: Hal
Publisher:
Nintendo
Release Date: June 13th, 2005
Players: 1

Introduction:

Kirby Canvas Curse. The latest addition to the Kirby franchise, and the Nintendo DS library.

Story:

The story starts off with our little pink hero enjoying a nice quiet walk. When all of a sudden a witch appears out of nowhere, and turns all of dreamland into a painting. The witch also turns Kirby into a ball, so your stylus becomes a magic paintbrush as you begin your grand journey. To turn dreamland back the way it once was.

Gameplay:

The gameplay is much like Yoshi Touch and go. Draw lines (ink rainbows) for Kirby so he can get to the end of each level. Now that is where the game differs from Yoshi T&G. There are levels! Draw a loop to making Kirby go faster. Draw a vertical line to turn Kirby around. Tap Kirby to make him speed up or to use the current copied ability you may have. This is how you control Kirby, better make good use of it. The game has 8 levels, and each of those is split into 3 smaller levels, with a boss fight at the end of the third. Beat the same boss level twice and unlock the subgame for that boss. There's 3 bosses, so that also means there's 3 subgames. I'll let you wait and see what those are like. Also, in each level, there's three medals you have to collect, to be used on a bunch of other little goodies. I also failed to mention, that when you beat an entire 1 of the 8 levels, you unlock ANOTHER 2 modes of play for that level. Time attack (needs no explaining, right?) and ink attack. Use the least amount of ink to beat the level. each of these 2 modes allows you to earn an additional 6 medals for each mini level (3 for ink and 3 for time). That's alot of medals! maybe something else happens when you completely finish the game, but I guess you'll have to find that out. So will I :P

I give the gameplay: 9/10

Graphics:

The game looks exactly like nightmare in dreamland for GBA. Crisp, clear, and nice detailed backgrounds.

I give the graphics: 8/10

Sound:

oh my, the sound is amazing. Take all of the best tunes from previous Kirby games, mix em around a bit, add a little remixing, and you have the wonderful tunes that are found in this game. Truly a masterpiece :D

I give the sound: 9/10

Replayability:

The replayability is extremely strong. Miss a medal in a level? go back and get it. wanna play for the sheer fun of just playing? then pop in Kirby CC. Whether you just want to have simple fun or collect those medals you missed (not to mention the other extra goodies), then this is a simple timewaster.

I give the replayability: 7.5/10

Challenge:

The game has a learning curve of about 15 minutes. After that it isn't very challenging, but that doesn't take away from how fun the game is. You'll probably lose a life here and there, but I doubt that you'll ever see the game over screen (i know I wont :D)

I give the challenge: 5/10

Value:

I don't know what to say here, other than this game is worth the $41.55 I spent on it.

I give the value: 8/10

Overall:

I'd have to say this is the best game out for the DS right now aside from Mario. HAL really did a good job in putting this game together. You owe it to yourself to play this masterpiece. While a little on the short side, the game has extremely good replayability, that should keep you occupied for a while

I give Kirby Canvas Curse: 9/10
