Introduction:

If you've ever been the proud owner of a Nintendo system, or have at least befriended somebody with one, odds are you've encountered a Mario Kart game at some point. The popular racing series, which first appeared on the Super Nintendo in 1992, lets you race your favorite Nintendo characters against each other in karts that can be armed with such devastating weapons as banana peels, opponent-seeking red shells, and opponent-shrinking lightning bolts. The series has evolved steadily with each iteration, up to and including 2003's Mario Kart: Double Dash, which retained most of its predecessors' features while introducing a new team-based mechanic that saw each cart manned by both a driver and a gunner. Mario Kart DS, then, might seem like something of a step back for the series in that it more closely resembles the Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64 games than the GameCube version; but, as the first game in the series to boast integrated online play, it also represents a major step forward.

Story:

Not much of a story...Actually...There isn't one.

But come on! Mario games don't need a story!

Gameplay:

Very smooth and enjoyable.

I give the gameplay: 10/10

Graphics:

Amazing. Way better then anything the N64 could have done.

I give the graphics: 10/10

Sound:

Pretty good. Some levels may have weird and annoying sounds but other then that it's pretty good.

I give the sound: 9/10

Replayability:

Well...It's Mario...And it's a racing game...So yeah. You're going to replay it over and over unless you're one of those people who get bored with a game in a matter of days.

I give the replayability: 10/10

Challenge:

Er...It depends. Sometimes I find it to be to easy. Other times you're going to want to rip your hair out. Kind of random in some ways. It also sort of depends on what mode you're playing.

I give the challenge: 8/10

Frustration:

Not many of the race tracks give you to much trouble. It's actually the Missions that are annoying. Some might take you hours to figure out because we all know how vague the instruction booklets are.

I give the frustration: 8/10

Value:

Very high! It's definitely worth the 35 dollars.

I give the value: 10/10

Overall:

Very very nice game. The only thing annoying to those who do not have Wireless routers is having to go to Mcdonalds to play online.

I give Mario Kart DS: 10/10
