Game Name: Super Mario 64 DS
System: Nintendo DS
Genre: Action
Developer/Publisher: Nintendo
Release Date: Nov 21, 2004
Players: 1 for Adventure Mode
2 to 4 players for Battle Mode

Introduction:

Hi! I'm Luigi'sfan4ever, a guy who thinks Luigi is the coolest Nintendo character. I wrote my first game review, and it's Super Mario 64 DS.

Story:

Princess Peach invites Mario to her castle after baking a cake. Mario comes to her castle with his friends, Luigi and Wario.  When they headed to the castle, Luigi jumped on Wario's head, squashing him flat. He then came back running to Wario. He tried to punch Luigi, but he missed. Luigi ran into Mario and both fell to the ground. They proceeded to the castle. Lakitu woke Yoshi. He told him Mario and friends haven't come out of the castle yet. He wants Yoshi to check on them. That's when the adventure begins.

Gameplay:

The gameplay was really amazing. I didn't play Super Mario 64, (this game is way better than the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time just to tell you) and I didn't own a Nintendo 64. The controls were really new to me. Mario can punch enemies, kick them, break bricks, jump really high, float, and grow big when you get a Super Mushroom. I never thought Mario could do these things in a game. You can get used to the gameplay right away. The gameplay was well planned out.

I give the gameplay: 10/10

Graphics:

Well, being the first game on the Nintendo DS could mean it's graphics are not as good as other Nintendo DS games' graphics., However, its graphics are better than Nintendogs. It's graphics are one of the best on the Nintendo DS.

I give the graphics: 9/10

Sound:

The sound is very good. You can hear it clearly. The music is also cool. I especially like the Bob-omb Battlefield music. You can hear Mario's voice when you make him do a few things such as jumping, punching, kicking, running, and when he jumps off from a high place. The mini-game room music is also my favorite, because it came from Super Mario Bros. 3. There so many familiar music in this game.

I give the sound: 9.5/10

Replayability:

You can play this game over and over again, even if you get all 150 Power Stars. You can replay all the missions on the courses, go against the bosses, catch rabbits, go to the roof once you get the 150th Power Star. There are so many things to do after beating this game!

I give the replayability: 9/10

Challenge:

The game was really challenging. I beat Bowser without rescuing Wario and beat the game. Finding the rabbits were not as hard as getting the Power Stars because all you have to do is just walk around the castle to find them. Today, I have every Power Star and rescued the characters trapped in their rooms.

I give the challenge: 10/10

Frustration:

The game is never frustrating.

Value:

The game is worth being played. Buying this is even better. This game is one of the best Nintendo DS games out there and is one of the few Nintendo DS games that sold 1 million copies or more. Other games on the Nintendo DS that sold one million copies or more are Nintendogs and Mario Kart DS.

I give the value: 10/10

New Playable Characters:

I think adding Yoshi, Luigi, and Wario as playable characters was an incredible idea. Mario can't really get all 150 Power Stars on his own without their help. People also thought Luigi was a playable character in Super Mario 64. Good news to those people who wanted to play Luigi badly, you can now play as Luigi in Super Mario 64 DS!

I give the new playable characters: 10/10

Mini Games:

I think the mini-game option is wonderful. The mini-games are fun and I always try to get a high score in them. Also, you use the stylus to play them. I think this is good because I never use the stylus while playing the Adventure Mode. The mini-games are short and sometimes long, depending on which you play.

I give the mini games: 10/10

Overall:

The game is one of the best and most challenging ones that I've played. You should buy this game if you have a Nintendo DS but don't have Super Mario 64 DS yet. Anybody can play this game and quickly get into it. You will never regret buying this game!

I give Super Mario 64 DS: 8/8

Conclusion:

Even with the Nintendo DS's touch screen not being used a lot in this game, it is still a great game. Super Mario 64 DS is a successful Nintendo DS game. I also plan to write another review for a different game on the Nintendo DS. So until next time readers, this is Luigi'sfan4ever saying good bye.
