Game Name: Yoshi Touch & Go
System: Nintendo DS
Genre: Action
Developer/Publisher: Nintendo
Release Date: March 14th, 2005
Players: 2 Players simultaneous

Introduction:

Well, Here's the latest addition to my DS library. I've been waiting the release of this game ever since I heard about it back in november. And having the past week or so with the game really let me see what this game is all about. So here is what I have to say about Yoshi Touch & Go.

Story:

Not much of a story, but you can easily tell what it is. Baby Mario is knocked from the stork's jaw and begins his descent down toward the ground. That's basically the story, and there is no end to this story.

Gameplay:

The gameplay was a bit upsetting at first. Yoshi Touch & Go reverts to the old style arcade gameplay, seeing how far you can get in one turn. This really bothered me at first, since there was no "real" objective to the game. But as I played the game more, I soon forgot about this issue and enjoyed the game for what it is. Now onto the actual gameplay. It starts with baby mario falling toward the earth slowly, as he has 3 balloons attached. Guide Baby Mario through the enemy and coin filled sky using the stylus and touch screen to draw lines of clouds for mario to follow. Soon after when you get close to the ground, the balloons will pop and Mario will be caught by a yoshi, of which color depends on how many points you got during mario's fall. The more points you get, The more eggs yoshi can hold. Now you will have to guide Yoshi, whom you can only control where to shoot his eggs and when he jumps, across the landscape. Lead yoshi into coins or across gaps drawing lines of clouds for yoshi to walk across. Very fun gameplay :D

I give the gameplay: 9/10

Graphics:

The graphics are very similar to Yoshi's island, but with a less hand drawn crayon look. They are very crisp and colorful, and do what they need to do for this game

I give the graphics: 7/10

Sound:

The Sound is awesome. Most of the sound effects used were from previous mario games (yoshis island, notably) as well as the music in the game. There may be a few new tunes, but they might just be rehashes from yoshis island tunes. VERY nice music, really suits the game

I give the sound: 9.5/10

Replayability:

Replayability is enormous. The levels are randomly generated, so you're never really playing the same level twice, although they do look very similar. Strong replayability that will make you want to play this game often

I give the replayability: 8/10

Challenge:

Yoshi T & G has moderate challenge, not to difficult but not overly easy. It will take about 10 minutes to fully get used to the controls, and then you're good to go. But since this is an old arcade type game, you have only one life to make it as far as you can, and every 1000 yards, the challenge is kicked up just a bit, making it hard around the 5000 yard mark. But nothing too hard

I give the challenge: 7/10

Value:

The value of this game is worth every penny i paid for it. I paid $40 CDN and feel it was definitely worth it. You will get many hours of play out of this game

I give the value: 8/10

Overall:

Overall, Yoshi T & G is a very worthy addition to the DS library, as well as a worthy addition to my own collection. I recommend anyone with a DS and $40 lying around go pick up this game and give it a try. It's a blast! I give this game 8/10 (not average, but as a whole)

I give Yoshi Touch & Go: 8/10
