Introduction:
TM always keeps his promise of writing a review. What? Well, ok. It
HAS been a couple months since I said I would write one for this game.
But what the heck. Anyways, let's do this thing!
Story:
Apparently, there is no story except to win all the GP cups I
guess. And beating all the Staff Ghosts in Time Trials *wink*
Gameplay:
The gameplay is very similar to any other racing game. Except now,
you go 500 MPH. A is the gas and you use the analog stick to steer.
The cool about this game is that your boost (press B, but only after
the first lap) is virtually unlimited. Although, it DOES take some of
your health to use the boost, but you can always run over the pink
areas over certain parts of the race track to regain life. Another
cool thing about the gameplay is that you can ATTACK OTHER CARS WITH
YOURS! There are two ways to attack. The first, and weaker is the
push. This is done by pushing L or R a few times in a row. If done
correctly, a red barrier will be around your car for a second and it
gives damage to another car and pushes them to the side if they're
right next to you. The second and stronger attack is the spin move.
This move is done by pressing L AND R together a few times. All of a
sudden, that red barrier will be around your car and you will do 4-5
spins! This attack only takes 2 hits to kill someone. It also knocks
them all over the place. The cool about this is that you can still
control your car left or right to sabotage all nearby cars! The only
bad thing about this attack is that it slows you down slightly.
One thing that I forget to mention are that there are yellow boost
pads on the race track that won't cost you health and red jump ramps
let you fly for a couple of seconds and somewhat give you a speed
boost.
Overall, the gameplay is very good. Better than a lot of racing games
out there.
I give the gameplay: 8/10
Graphics:
The graphics are extremely good for an N64 game. When I first
played this game I had to remind myself I wasn't playing Gamecube!
That's how good they are.
I give the graphics: 10/10
Sound:
Not so good. Sometimes, a voice that tells you things during the
race like "Watch your back" or "Wow! You're way out in front!" Or even
"You're going the wrong way!!" This voice is very unclear and it took
me a few races to catch on to what he was saying. But the music in
this game is really good.
I give the sound: 6/10
Replayability:
How do you replay a game with no story? I've no idea. But it is fun
just to play the game. THAT is what matters.
I give the replayability: 8/10
Challenge:
The Expert and Master difficulties are extremely hard to get gold
on, mainly because they actually keep up with the other cars during
the race.
I give the challenge:
10/10
Frustration:
Kind of. I mean, the only time I ever get mad is when I get killed.
If I finish, say, 7th place, It's not that big of a deal.
I give the frustration:
4/10
Value:
I have NO idea how much this cost.
I give the value: ?/?
Overall:
An excellent game from Nintendo that you should have if you like
Nascar, or other high speed racing sports or games.
I give F-Zero X: 9/10
Conclusion:
There will be yet another review coming soon! i Hasta
luego!
