Introduction:

What up? 'Tis me once again for another great review. I'm back with one of the most controversial Zelda in the history of this franchize, Majora's Mask. Impecable game, no doubt, but you don't even get Ganondorf's butt. It's not even in Hyrule! Nonetheless, It was original, which made it quite entertaining.

Story:

All this happens right after Ocarina of Time, and Link sneaks away from Hyrule on a personal mission to find a beloved friend. So he sets off to Lost Woods atop Epona, to look for said friend. A couple of naughty fairies, named Tatl and Tael, startle Epona, causing Link to fall off and lose conciousness. Then a Skull Kid wearing a mask steals Link's ocarina and horse and leads him to an alternate dimension. When Link catches up with the Skull Kid, the power of the mask transforms Link into a Deku Scrub. As the Skull Kid escapes, Link tries to follow, but Tatl pokes him for awhile. The door closes and soon Tatl is separated from her brother and the Skull Kid. She then turns over a new leaf and helps our transformed hero. He eventually finds himself in a clocktower with a strange man known only as the Happy Mask Salesman, who tells Link that the mask the Skull Kid was wearing is Majora's Mask and was stolen from him. When he exits the tower he fins a peaceful town called Clocktown. He looks up at a humongous moon with a frightening face. He later learns that within three days the moon will crash into Clocktown, killing everyone. Link must call upon the "four who are there", to catch the moon and protect the citizens of Clocktown. Once Link retrieves his ocarina from the Skull Kid on the third day, he uses it and Zelda, in a flashback, reteaches him the Song of Time, sending him back to the first day. He must collect the four masks from the south, north, west, and east compass points in order to access the inside of the moon for the final battle with Majora.

Gameplay:

Everything is practically similar to OoT but the weapons are slightly different and different-looking. You don't get the Boomerang at all in this game, but when you're a Zora, your fins can be launched and then return to you, much like a boomerang. The Hookshot has alos changed appearance. It 's in a sort of claw or talon-shaped handle, with a golden colour, and the hook itself can travel the same distance as the Longshot from OoT. But other than the physical changes nothing else has become different.

I give the gameplay: 9.5/10

Graphics:

If you look closely, the physical features on Link's body have smoothed out over the past two years, giving him a surreal look, but nothing too fancy. Also they'va added cooler jumps like sideways and flips. Back to graphics. Nothing much has changed from its OoT counterpart.

I give the graphics: 8/10

Challenge:

It is quite the challenge. Almost enough difficulty to surpass OoT's Master Quest. But it does seem easier when you run things through the second time.

I give the challenge: 8/10

Frustration:

It does tend to give me the heebie-jeebies and firghten me into not completing that particular level, mostly Ikana Castle, ugh... But any other place is kind of mind-boggling getting me stuck there for quite a while.

I give the frustration: 5/10

Overall:

Not as great as Ocarina of Time, mostly because it's a little shorter. But still has as much, if not, more quality as OoT itself. These days it's a lilttle harder to get this game, but I hear that now that OoT's in the Virtual Console, they're producing MM for it as well.

I give The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask: 9.5/10

Conclusion:

If you've played OoT and you want another game like it, then Majora's Mask is your pick of the day. Until my next review, I'll see you soon, and stay in the Nintenzone!
