Introduction:
Well this is my review about a game that is very addicting and fun
to play. When I first played it I played it the whole way through for
about 80 hours. Now I have restarted and have about 22 hours in it.
Enjoy my review...
Story:
The story is actually very deep for a strategy game. There is a
huge empire called Lodis; with many countries and separate people in
it. You as the main character are whatever your name urself and start out
fighting for Palatinus which is one of the countries inside the Lodis
Empire. You fight against the Revolutionary Army who fight to get rid
of the class system and bring peace and independence to all. You name
your group of all your units what you want to call it (mine I called THE
TRIFORCE) then a couple of missions into the game you realize that you
are fighting for the wrong side and join with the Revolutionary Army.
Lodis and Palatinus only care for the upper class and look down on the
peasants and don't treat them fairly. You have a friend named Prince Yumil whom
you have been friends with since he was a kid. An attempt was
made on his life by a noble but your father killed the noble when you were
both kids. He was accused of murder and never denied it...you find out
more as you progress in the game (don't want to spoil it.) As you get
farther into the game you fight many evil spirited ppl which is what
most of the Lodis Empire is made up of. The story is one of my most
favorite stories cause it can really apply to today's society.
Gameplay:
The gameplay is pretty cool. You have units that you make up of
different kinds of characters (like paladins, knights, clerics, and
beast tamers as a few classes.) You set a leader for each group and
can put what items you want each unit to carry. You can also equip their
armor, some accessories, and their weapon which is shown on the battle
screen. You start a mission at a main base (which if taken you lose) and
most of the other bases on the map are red which means they're the
enemies. The blue ones are yours. You can enter strongholds but all
you do
is talk to a person...you don't talk..the person does but you can find
information and stuff from entering and talking to these ppl. You can
also get units at certain strongholds which are units that are stronger
than others but it is very rare. When you move you move very slow cause
hours are going by but it's like an hour every 2 seconds on your clock so
hours fly by. You tell your units to go the way you want them to by
selecting move when you click on them and stretching the pointer out to
where you want them to go then pressing A. The object of each mission is
to capture the enemies main base (which means you have to kill a
boss..strong or weak depending on if it is a really important mission
or just one leading up to a really important mission) without getting
your main guy killed or losing your base. When you enter a battle it plays
out by itself with each unit attacking and healing. You can also have
animals like griffons and dragons in your units but they reduce the
amount of ppl you can have in one unit. The max is 5 ppl in one unit but
with an animal you can only have 3 + the animal. Whoever deals more damage
in a battle wins it and knocks the other unit back; but if you lose then
you are knocked back which means you could lose the stronghold you're at, and
hopefully not your main base. At the beginning of each mission your main
guy's unit is the only unit deployed so you have to deploy how ever
many other units you have. I like to destroy all the units on the map
before going to the main boss so as to get more money at the end to
spend on training my units. At the end of the mission you also get an
item and some soldiers. At the beginning of the game you have soldiers
which are little guys that are like midgets that fight. As they fight and
gain xp they could either become a soldier or an amazon. Obviously
this is male or female and affects what classes you can become. Clerics
heal and are very important..can only be females. (have one in each unit
for a tip) The gameplay is not as complicated as it seems and is very
ez to master but is very much fun at the same time.
I give the gameplay: 10/10
Graphics:
The graphics suck pretty bad. Course this is a strategy game and
doesn't rely on graphics to make it a good game.
I give the graphics: 5/10
Sound:
The music is cool. It changes with the mood of the game...like
danger or sadness. The battle sounds sound a lot like what they are.
I give the sound: 7/10
Replayability:
The replayability is pretty good cause you can go back and make
different units and characters. You can also unlock lots of hidden
stuff.
I give the replayability: 8.5/10
Challenge:
This game isn't that challenging as long as your units are trained
and equipped. You can also set the difficulty for what you want.
I give the challenge:
7/10
Value:
This game has been out for awhile and isn't worth that much so you
could probably get it for around $10. It is a great game and worth
that much. I have spent about 100 hours altogether playing this game
and much more to come.
I give the value: 9/10
Overall:
The sound, story, gameplay, value, and replayability are great. The
challenge is pretty good but the graphics aren't.
I give Ogre Battle 64: Person of
Lordly Caliber: 10/10
Conclusion:
I had a lot of fun playing this game and know you will too if you do. I
hope you enjoyed my review on it and hope you decide to get this game.
