Game Name:
San Francisco RUSH Extreme Racing
System: Nintendo 64
Genre: Racing
Developer: Atari
Publisher: Midway
Release Date: November 1st, 1997
Players: 2 simultaneous
|
Introduction:
RUSH is an arcade racer by Atari and Midway. Came out around 1997
and is one of the early N64 titles. You have about 6 tracks and about
2 secret tracks to unlock, you can roam the country side and find
secret keys to unlock stuff and so on. You do have check points so be
sure not to waste your time. Your car can get damage, blow up and etc
but not to worry, because soon as it blow up, you can press the C-UP
button and it puts you back on track nice and fresh.
Story:
There isn't a story here, its a racing game, you have to try and
get the best place you can.
Gameplay:
The gameplay is great but with one flaw, the controlling is bit
hard and can get frustrating when trying to go on sharp corners or
going thought secret areas. It is also difficult finding and trying to
get keys because it will send you all the way back on to the track and
you loose your place. The cars in the game are plain and get boring,
but the gameplay makes up for it, the game drags you back for more,
its fast, fun, and exciting at times, you can find your self doing big
flips in the air, or on jumps and spectacular crashes, makes this game
really really fun and this game is for everyone that likes this type
of stuff, like car crashes and stunts and so on.
I give the gameplay: 8/10
Graphics:
The graphics in this game are not good or great, they are pretty
poor, plain surroundings, the cars are plain. The graphics are pretty
simple, it does not seem like they tried very hard and tried to be
imaginative because it also seems like the same thing has been used a
couple of times. Even for an early title the graphics are not good,
its not nice to look at and very very plain, and like I have said
before, graphics are not everything, the game play counts, so even
that its not nice to look at, the gameplay once again.
I give the graphics: 4/10
Sound:
The sound I guess is like every other racing game, you hear the car
going, you hear it crash and you hear it when you grind against a wall
or fence. But it does have a catchy tune when you get a high score,
anyone who has played the game will know.
I give the sound: 5/10
Replayability:
This game is great, with all the keys you have to find around the
course and all the crazy stunts you can do, this game brings a lot of
fun, and because of all these secrets you get to unlock and find, it
lasts even longer, plus the secrets around the courses, makes this
game a log of fun.
I give the replayability: 8/10
Challenge:
This game can get a little frustrating at times due to the
controlling, but it doesn't effect the game much, the game can get a
little hard at times even on the Very Easy level, but that just makes
the games last longer, its not Hard or Easy, but either way, its a
great game go out and buy it now.
I give the challenge:
5/10
Value:
Has it got good value? Oh yes! with great gameplay, replayability
and good difficulty settings, this game is a must get, you can get it
cheap now, its been out about 7 or 8 years.
I give the value: 8/10
Overall:
Well, like I said before, it's a must get, racing fans will like it
and so will other people.
I give San Francisco RUSH Extreme
Racing: 8/10
Conclusion:
The game is great, great gameplay, lots of secrets, long tracks and
more. The game will be cheap now and you will be able to buy it off
Ebay or a 2nd hand store for really cheap, I got my copy for $5. Well
that brings the end of my review.
