Introduction:
Hey. Tanooki Mario here. I'm going to tell you about SSB. A game
that is WAY different than any other fighting game. It also answers
old age questions like, "Can Link beat up Mario?" or "Can Samus shoot
out Fox?" This is a game where you can literally smash a Pokémon with
a baseball bat or a hammer.
Story:
Not much of a story in this game. I guess they all of a sudden
hated each other or as the commercial says "Something has gone wrong
in the world of Nintendo."
Gameplay:
The gameplay is so unique because instead of having a certain
amount of damage before you die, you try to knock the other person off
the stage a certain amount of distance. The way you take damage is you
have a little damage meter at the bottom of the screen. You start out
with 0%.As you take hits, the meter goes up. The more damage it shows,
the farther you will get hit by attacks. One thing I've never seen in
ANY fighting game is that you have a shield you can use by pressing Z.
But over time, it gets smaller and when it gets as small as it can go,
it explodes, and the caster is left immovable for a while. The main 1
Player mode is just like Classic in SSBM. You fight through 10 stages
and at the end, you fight Master Hand. And if you have friends over,
you can play in Multiplayer mode and up to 4 people can play at once!
I've had hours of fun just playing with my friends in this mode!
Another great thing is items. Periodically in a battle items will fall
from the sky. Some are the baseball bats and hammers I mentioned
earlier, koopa shells, Poké balls (......) and Bob-ombs. Overall, the
gameplay is perfect.
I give the gameplay: 10/10
Graphics:
Not the greatest. The only things that are 3-D are the characters,
and parts of the stages. Everything else is 2-D. You can tell
everything else is 2-D by pausing and then zooming in on something in
the stage. The characters pretty good and the stages are better than
the characters, but overall the graphics are a little worse than what
you would expect from an N64 game.
I give the graphics: 4/10
Sound:
When you hit your enemy, it sounds like your hitting a hollow metal
pole. But the sounds the items make sounds great! The music in the
stages sound good too. The StarFox stage has the theme song for SF and
sounds just like it did from StarFox 64! If the sound made when you
hit someone were a LOT better, I'd give it a 9. But since it's
terrible, I'm giving it a 7 only because the music is so good.
I give the sound: 7/10
Replayability:
You can't really replay SSB. But it can play VS mode over and over
and over (10 years later) and over and over again and it never gets
boring; especially when you play with other people. (who are good that
is).
I give the replayability: 10/10
Challenge:
In Classic mode, it's pretty easy in Very Easy, Easy, and Normal.
But on Hard and Very Hard it's almost impossible to get through it
without losing a life or two. Or in VS. mode where the CPU is at lv.
9, it's hard. But if you master the controls, it gets pretty easy. If
you're a beginner, it'll take a little time to get good at this
fighting game.
I give the challenge:
10/10
Overall:
A great fighting game with unique rules. I must have for all
Nintendo fans. The only downfall in this game is the sound it makes
when you hit someone. Other than that, this game is awesome!
I give Super Smash Bros.: 10/10
Conclusion:
Well, there ya have it. Not much I can say except for this is a
great game to own and play over and over again.
