Introduction:
Double Dragon is one of the best fighting games made for the NES
and the Arcade. I recommend this game to any fighting/side scrolling
fans or just NES fans even. This is the first Double Dragon of the
series and my personal favorite.
Story:
The Double Dragons is the name of the two twins, Billy and Jimmy
Lee. They are martial arts experts. The Story is a just like any
fighting game story. Your girlfriend gets kidnapped and you want her
back. You Play as Billy Lee who goes on a quest to save his girlfriend
Marian. But Your twin brother Jimmy Lee also loves Marian which is why
he joins the Shadow Warriors who kidnapped her.
Gameplay:
The game play is pretty original. You gain moves by earning points
as you progress in the game. (Ex. 2 hearts lets you uppercut at the
end of a combo, 3 hearts lets you jump kick, etc.). You Make your way
through the 4 missions beating up any opponents in the way. And it's
not all about hand to hand combat, there will be plenty of weapons.
But the game is not just about fighting, you must jump gaps, jump onto
elevators and avoid any traps in your way.
I give the gameplay: 10/10
Graphics:
Double Dragon has very good graphics for a NES game, especially
the background and the levels. The City, the forest and the flashing
caves. The Characters movements might not be perfect (like Billy's
roundhouse) but other than that the graphics are great.
I give the graphics: 9/10
Music/Sound:
The music is all original and I find pretty catchy. I think the
music is great and I wouldn't change any of the sound tracks. The
Sound effects are pretty decent. There may be sounds that don't sound
like it should be like in real life (like the bouncing rocks, they
sound hollow) and other sound effects may be weird too. But other
sound are great.
I give the music: 10/10 and
sound: 8/10
Overall:
Double Dragon is a NES game you will want to have and keep in
you're NES collection forever. You will find yourself hooking up
you're NES often to play this game.
I give Double Dragon: 10/10
