Game Name:
Kabuki Quantum Fighter
System: NES
Genre: Action
Developer: Human Creative Group
Publisher: HAL
Release Dates:
United States:
1990
Players: 1 |
Introduction:
Kabuki Quantum Fighter is a fun Double Dragon/ Mega Man side
scrolling game where you
fight to save the world from mutually assured destruction. The head
boss remains
mysteriously unknown until the very end. It's a fun game for mega man
fans because the
gameplay is very similar and the controls are easy to figure out.
Story:
In the main computer which controls nuclear weapons a problem has
been discovered and the US lost control of its nukes. The US is not happy about this and
they find you, the best
computer expert and NES gamer in the military, to resolve the crisis.
The unknown evil
entity behind this evil deed remains unknown until the end, and I
won't give away the
identity. You are inserted into the computer to destroy evil computer
programs intent on
resurrecting the Y2K bug.
Gameplay:
This is exactly like Mega Man and some would consider it a clone.
You gain different
attacks after defeating bosses such as fireball and fireball of death.
This is a little harder
than Mega Man in certain aspects but you will soon master the
controls. The gameplay
starts off nice and easy but everything after that is uphill.
I give the gameplay: 9/10
Graphics:
The graphics are decent for NES. For 1990 the graphics are well
done and the cutscenes
were incredibly well made. However, some of the evil creatures were
hard to figure out
what they were supposed to represent and the backgrounds didn't make
any sense at all.
I give the graphics: 8/10
Sound:
One of the few NES games with good music, you won't need to mute
the sound on this
game. They must have spent a lot of money on sound effects and it
really helps the
gameplay and atmosphere. In fact, I give the sound in this game a rare
perfect score.
I give the sound: 10/10
Replayability:
Not much replayability as there is only one path to finish the
game. Still, if it's a rainy day you
might want to dust off your old NES and play it one more time.
I give the replayability: 3/10
Challenge:
This game is sort of hard to put in any one challenge category.
The beginning is very easy,
but the later stages are very difficult. I suppose the challenge
level increases gradually but
hopefully your skills will increase to match the harder difficulty
level.
I give the challenge: 8/10
Frustration:
Well, some of the later stages are very frustrating and challenging
with the numerous leaps
and jumps you have to make to survive. Most of the game is not easy
but it's not hard
either. The difficulty rating in this game is fairly well balanced so
there weren't many
complaints.
I give the frustration: 9/10
Value:
If you see this game for cheap I would recommend you buy it. It is
one of the better NES
games made and it will keep you busy for days. For the money I spent
on it, it was definitely
worth it.
I give the value: 9/10
Overall:
Overall one of the better games out there. If you see it somewhere
for sale, buy it.
I give Kabuki Quantum Fighter: 9/10
Conclusion:
This game is fairly well balanced, fun to play, has good music,
and a decent story. A great
game for a rainy day when you want to play a good game on the NES.
