  Game Name:
Super Mario Bros. 3
System:
NES
Genre:
Action / Platformer
Players:
1-2 Alternating
Developer:
Nintendo
Publisher:
Nintendo
Release Date:
Japan: October 23rd, 1988
United States: February 1990

Introduction:

Hey everyone! I don't know if you people actually read my reviews or not but if you're reading this one, you're awesome. Anyways, today I will tell you guys about SMB 3. A game which you people already know about, but I think the Tanooki Mario needs to write something that relates to his own internet name! Well, also cause it's in awesome game.

Story:

Bowser kidnaps the princess and it's Mario's job to find and rescue her. But now, Bowser sends his kids, Iggy, Morton, Limmy, Ludwig, Roy, Wendy O. and Larry to get on their battleships and destroy Mario! It's Mario's job to defeat all 8 Koopa Kids and let Bowser kill himself ( beat the game and you'll understand) in order to get the princess back! But this time, it will be harder than ever,

Gameplay:

Just like SMB 1. Except with the addition of a few items:

Leaf-gives you part-time flying powers and lets you "glide" by repeatedly pressing A in the air.

TANOOKI SUIT (my favorite, obviously)- exactly the same as the leaf except you can turn into a statue by pressing down B to become unhitable for a little bit, but you can't move anywhere.

Frog Suit- Lets you swim at high speeds and control. You also hop across land.

Hammer Bros Suit-Gives you the power the throw hammers at enemies for a real "hammering"

Cloud (level map only) let's you skip a level.

Music box (level map only) put the Hammer bros and other "enemy level enemies" to sleep until you lose 2 lives.

P wing-(level map only but can use in a level) Lets you have unlimited flying power for one level. (Dang beeping noise!)

Hammer-(level map only) lets you break rocks to open new paths to secret levels.

Notice how I say "level map only" on some items. Well, in this Mario game, there are Mushroom houses that you can get an item from, there are the Hammer Brothers, and there are the secret levels which let you get items to keep for later, Let's say I beat a Hammer Brother in the Hammer Brother mini-level and I get a Leaf as a prize. By pressing X (or B if you're using a NES) you go to your inventory of items. There, the leaf should be there. by pressing left and right I can toggle between items to highlight and press A to use one. So if I chose the Leaf, I would be turned into Raccoon Mario at the start of the level! Which awesome because on some levels, it would be a lot easier to use an item before I began a level.

There are also a variety of side games on the level map that you can play to get items, 1ups and coins.

Several new enemies are also in this game.

Possibly the best Mario gameplay ever!

I give the gameplay: 10/10

Graphics:

Very good.....for a NES game. But it is probably one of the best graphics a NES can have.

I give the graphics: 9/10

Sound:

This particular game has some of the most famous Mario music ever and it also as the best MARIO music ever! Every sound in this game is flawless is all I can see.

I give the sound: 10/10

Replayability:

Best Mario game ever = best  Mario Replayability ever. I seem to never get tired of it!

I give the replayability: 10/10

Challenge:

Aside the awesomeness, this Mario game is one of the hardest out there. Seriously. Once you get to the 3 or 4 worlds (not levels) you'll begin to notice how hard the game is. That's probably why you can store items and use them at the start of the levels.

I give the challenge: 10/10

Frustration:

The same as any other Mario game. It has a decent amount of Frustration in it. Most of it comes from the later levels, though.

I give the frustration: 8/10

Value:

Not good. $30 is the usual price for this game. But what can I say? It's the best Mario game ever, so you can't really blame them. Plus, it's pretty rare.

I give the value: 5/10

Overall:

The absolutely greatest Mario game ever made. Everything is flawless. Gameplay, Music, Graphics, everything!

I give Super Mario Bros. 3 : 10/10

Conclusion:

This is the end of my review. How do I know? Because it is.
