  Game Name: Super Mario Bros.
System: NES
Genre: Action
Developer/Publisher: Nintendo
Release Date: October 1, 1985
Players: 2 Alternating

Introduction:

Super Mario Bros. was the starting point of the greatest Video Game System ever built. It was the game that made Mario an icon. It started the whole side scrolling action game genre. With its basic design and extraordinary game play this game has become a legend. Not just for the NES, but for all video games. If you have ever had a NES, or even played one, this is a game you have likely played. This game can be even played by children of 3. I know that because that is when I first started to play it. This game is a classic and all time favourite game of many people. I don't even know why I am writing a review for it. Basically everyone knows of it. I guess I am writing a review of it because it is a legend. This game is truly legendary.

Story:

The story is basic, but a classic. The Princess has been captured by the evil Bowser or King Koopa. (Whatever you call him) So Mario has to venture out in the Mushroom kingdom, avoiding enemies, going through worlds, all to save the Princess.

Gameplay:

The game play in Super Mario Bros. is pretty basic. You can jump and run and then shoot a fireball if you get a fire flower. That is not to say the game is boring, quite the opposite. This game is incredibly fun and addicting. You have to master jumping, that’s for sure. This game can be beaten in a short time though. That is not to say it is fast for everyone. When I was 3 and 4, I died on this game all the time; it took until I was 4 to actually beat it. But, if you're older and have played NES games, than this should be a pretty quick game. You have to avoid the classic enemies. Goombas, koopas, paratroopas, and of course, the dreaded hammer bro(s). If you don't already know, Hammer Bros. are these annoying koopas who throw hammers at you. That can be a little tricky for beginners. The game is really fun. You do have to avoid holes and many enemies. Jumping is the basic principal. But you do have to avoid many things. This game has wonderful game play.

I give the game play: 7/10

Graphics:

The graphics in this game aren't that good. That is not to say they're horrible. I do have to remind you that this is one of the first NES games to come out. Mario is pretty basic looking. You have a little red guy with a brown moustache. The background of the game is decent. You will see clouds and maybe some hills, a wooden fence. The enemies are basically made. But I have always liked how the Goombas look. You can of course tell what you're doing. Everything is obviously what it is.

I give the graphics: 5.5/10

Sound:

The sound in this game has to be the most classic video game music in history. You will still hear this music being played in some Nintendo games today. Famous artists have performed it. An Orchestra has actually done a composition on it. With that said, this game has obviously has incredible sound. The background sound is perfect. It blends so well with the levels. The action sounds are perfect. They are so well done and legendary, like when Mario jumps, or when he shoots a fireball.

I give the sound: 10/10!!!

Replayability:

This game is a very repayable game. I started to play it when I was 3 and I still play it. You can play it beat Bowser, save the Princess and then beat it all over again ten minutes later.

I give the replay ability: 10/10!!!

Challenge:

Uh. . . . . .Nothing here. This game is easy if you have played video games before. You might get game over once or twice if you are new to the game, but it is usually very non-frustrating.

I give the challenge: 5/10

Value:

This game can usually be bought for about 5 bucks, and that’s usually with Duck Hunt. So, if you have a NES and don't have this game, I would be quite surprised. Seriously, every person I have ever known who has a NES, has this game. So if you have a NES that you use, than I think you should get this game.

Overall:

Overall this game is extraordinary. It has the incredible game play. It might just be jumping, but that makes this game incredibly fun. The graphics are so-so. The sound is unbelievable. It has to be the most famous video game music of all time. The replayability is amazing, and the value is extraordinary. The Challenge is ok.

I give Super Mario Bros.: 8/10

Conclusion:

Super Mario Bros. is truly a legendary game. It is a game that anyone who played the NES has played (and probably loved). This game came out with the NES and helped start the whole NES revolution. I wonder now that if this game hadn't ever been released, if the NES would have done as good. Maybe not off the start, because when people first played this, its incredible graphics and game play must have blown them away. Up until then they had probably been playing an Atari or Colecovison or Intellivision. Well, that is about all I have to say about it. This game is great. What can I really say? I love it, and I know I will be playing it for years to come. I don't think I will ever actually stop playing it.
