  Game Name:
Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link
System:
NES
Genre:
Action / Adventure
Players:
1
Developer:
Nintendo
Publisher:
Nintendo
Release Date:
Japan - Disk System: January 14th, 1987
United States: December 1988

Introduction:

This is the second Zelda game there, but sequels aren't always the best thing.

Story:

This takes place pretty much after the first Legend of Zelda.
Ganon is dead, but Zelda has fallen into a "magical sleep" and it's up to Link to wake her by collecting these scrolls.
Oh, and Ganon's minions are trying to kill Link to use his blood to resurrect Ganon.

Gameplay:

Terrible. You walk in a field, unable to do anything but walk in a birds-eye view position, until these creatures jump out at you and then you're in a side view, where you can jump, cast spells, run, and swing your sword. You have to dodge enemies and run across the small area.
Fighting consists of a spell, a jump, a duck, and a slash. It's not very good, and it gets repetitive.
Here's the thing about leveling up:
No heart containers, instead you have to kill enemies to get an amount of experience points, then you can decide after you have enough points to raise your stamina, magic, or strength. Killing enemies gives you almost no points at all, and you're incredibly weak in the beginning. This game is similar to boring online RPGs where it takes longer for you to level up than complete a dungeon.

I give the gameplay: 2/10

Graphics:

The graphics were charming in the first Legend of Zelda. Here, they're crap. They terribly drawn. Hats melt into heads, beards melt onto chests, etc. But I'll cut it some slack since it is an NES game.

I give the graphics: 4/10

Sound:

The sounds and music is a bit better and has more variety. The Hyrule Temple song from SSBM comes from the jingles here.
However, the sounds are not good at all, scratchy and annoying.

I give the sound: 4/10

Replayability:

Replayability? I don't want to replay it, but I guess you can still kill enemies and stuff, like other Zelda games, but in my opinion, it's not worth it.

I give the replayability: 2/10

Challenge:

The challenge is not so much from the enemies, but more of Link's frailty.
You do not have hearts. You have a bar that is extremely short. In 2-3 hits Link's dead. The controls are pathetic and the enemies just move too fast and deal too much damage to get anything done.
Oh yeah, you have lives in this game.

I give the challenge: 10/10

Frustration:

Does 10/10 in frustration mean that it is extremely frustrating?
I don't need to re-explain what I said above. This game is worthless.

I give the frustration: 11/10

Value:

Value? I'd sell this for $5.00. I wouldn't even buy this, because this game is terrible. The only way I got this was from the GCN cd.

I give the value: 1/10

Bonus:

Here are some secrets in the game:
The towns are named after characters in the game.
There's Saria Town, Mido Town, Impa Town, etc.
If you talk to a guy who says "I am Error", he is not actually an error in the game. It is later revealed that Error is his name.

I give the bonus: 2/10

Overall:

Do not buy this game or even rent it somehow. If you have the GCN disc or the NES, don't waste your time.

I give Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link: 210

Conclusion:

Don't get this game, unless you like boredom.
