Introduction
Welcome to my 2nd review. You may have known that this was coming. =P
Story
A big cataclysm had hit a bustling town many years ago. There was some treasure there, hidden in the Palace. Now standing there is a town called Rogueport, which it’s underground sewers contain some of the surviving town scupltures. When Princess Peach buys a treasure map leading to the treasure, evil X-Nauts kidnap her and lock her in their fortress. Now, Mario and his new cast of friends must save Peach before the next cataclysm starts by finding the rare Crystal Stars.
Gameplay (8/10)
This is much like the first Paper Mario. You travel into different worlds, or “chapters”, and try to find the next Crystal Star. You battle enemies on the battlefield to earn EXP and Star Power. You will use new ablilties, such as turning into a paper plane, to get to somewhere. There are 8 partners willing to help you in the game, along with your trusty hammer that will upgrade at certain points in the game, and so will your stomping powers. The boss battles can be tough at times. You will need to do something before you get ready to battle, such as equpping a badge to fight Hooktail. This really does takes place of the first Paper Mario.
Graphics (8/10)
It’s a 2-D world, but it seems 3-D to you. This what makes it so great. It’s like unexpected graphics just waiting to happen. The battle graphics are great too, like the Crystal Star attacks and Item attacks. There are at times when a mischeivious Shy Guy comes along and tries to ruin your battle…be careful. Like I said before, it looks like 3-D, but it really isn’t. Clever, Nintendo!
Sound (9/10)
A lot of the sounds have been remixed from their original states, but a lot of new sounds are present too, like computer noises or charging noises. My favorite would have to be the Palace of Shadows music because I love how they remixed the SMB Underground Theme in 2 different ways!
Replayability (6/10)
Maybe not really, it is sort of boring at times…
Challenge (6/10)
You know what? The only challenges for me were the last 2 chapters and The Pit of 100 Trails, but that’s just my opinion.
Frustration (2/10)
Like I said in the Challenge, there really was no frustration, but it was smooth sailing.
Value (9/10)
Um…maybe? =P
Overall (810)
This is a great game with ups and downs. You should buy it, it’s cool.
Conclusion
This is Mr. Game and Watch (BTape) signing off! BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP =P
