  Game Name: Donkey Kong Country
System: Super Nintendo
Genre: Action
Developer: Rare
Publisher: Nintendo
Release Date: Nov 01, 1994
Players: 2 Simultaneous/Alternating

Introduction:

Does this game even need an introduction. WOW!, THE DONKEY KONG COUNTRY!!! This game just shot the Super Nintendo up in sales. It is incredible. Up until then Donkey Kong games were very basic. They were these one screen things. They were basic fun. Games that you could beat in 10 minutes. When this came out, everyone was just astonished.

Story:

Well, Donkey Kong has himself an Arch Nemesis. King K. Rool. Well, King K Rool has stolen all of Donkey Kong's Bananas!!! So Donkey Kong must go out with his younger brother Diddy to get them back.

Gameplay:

The gameplay is fantastic. You will have to jump over enemies onto many different platforms and enemies. You will have to climb vines. You will be inside barrels as they spin around, and it is up to you to press the button at precisely the right moment. You will have friends along the way, like a loveable rhino. If Donkey Kong or Diddy is hit even once, they will die. But, you will get two hits and your completely dead, if you have both Donkey Kong and Diddy. You will have to pick up barrels and hurl them at your enemies, you will have to ride in a mine cart. I find the game style to be very good.

I give the gameplay: 8/10

Graphics:

The graphics are VERY GOOD. They are incredible. I know its a side scrolling game, but all the characters and environment look 3-D. Donkey Kong and Diddy look amazing. But, then again, everything in the game looks amazing.

I give the graphics: 10/10!!!

Sound:

The sound is phenomenal. It is legendary. The background sounds are also good. They are so nice to listen to, and fit perfectly with every level. The sound FX are amazing. If you stand DK still for awhile, you will hear him yell in his own ape sound.

I give the sound: 8/10

Replayability:

The replayability is good. I got this game when it first came out and still play it. I will usually beat the entire game in a couple days, then some months later, beat it again.

I give the replayability: 7/10

Challenge:

This game gives a good challenge. I have played it a lot and I will still die on some stages. The first time you play it should be challenging. After playing it for awhile it will still give a slight challenge.

I give the challenge: 7.5/10

Value:

Well, I don't really know how much this game is used. I bought it when it was new and don't look for it at used stores. But I would say that its worth at least 30 Dollars Canadian. Which is about 23 US. I would pay more than that for it, since I love this game, but thats a good/fair price for the working cart used, I think.

Overall:

Overall this game is incredible. It has a great game style, the graphics can't be compared to most SNES game, the sound is superb, the replayability is ok, it gives a good challenge, and the value is ok.

I give Donkey Kong Country : 9/10

Conclusion:

Donkey Kong Country is a legendary game for the SNES. It's one of the best games the SNES has. It had 2 sequels. The game made people really want a SNES over the other systems out there. I got this game when it came out and loved it. It came with a making of Donkey Kong Country VHS tape. The SNES Donkey Kong's are the best Donkey Kong games in my opinion, I like them better than Donkey Kong 64. This game is a must have for any SNES player.
