Introduction:
Hey there. I'm Bazzoka and I'm going to review this wonderful game,
EarthBound. Not many will remember it seeing as it is a SNES game but
here I go.
Story:
The story is about a young boy named... well actually you can name
him your self but it can't be too long. Anyway the story is about a
boy named Ness that is awoken in the middle of the night only to find
the police at the very top of a near by hill. Later in the night your
neighbour, Pokey, awakens you to tell you that supposedly he "lost"
his brother. You go up the hill, since the police aren't there
anymore, and you find Pokey's brother, Picky. Also with the addition
of finding his brother you also see a meteor that releases a bug like
thing. You return to your house but before you can a Star Man fights
you. Don't worry, its and auto win pretty much. This is where pretty
much the story kicks into action without me revealing anything too
important.
Gameplay:
This is a RPG. The gameplay is quite magnificent for its time. It
allows you to move in the compass rose. North, East, South, and West.
Plus you can move NE, SE, SW, and NW. You can also speed through the
text by pressing the A and the L buttons. Has many things for you to
battle and its just a solid game. Though some of it can be bad. This
really does tend to happen once in a while. If you're playing it and
you pull the cord of the controller it will turn to a black screen and
be screwed. If you're lucky, you're game will be safe but if you're
not BAM all the files have been erased. But that's like a glitch.
I give the gameplay: 9/10
Graphics:
The graphics are also quite an astonishment as well. Though it is
only a mere 16-Bit game, the graphics of it's time are quite good. On
the overworld, the graphics are a little-less detailed but that's just
like any other game. When you go into a battle there is some nicely
thought up backgrounds. The enemies are well detailed as well. Only
one thing bothers me. They didn't make battle sprites for the main
characters but you can't expect much from an old game like this.
I give the graphics: 8/10
Sound:
The sound. One of the most important things in life. Why, if there
was no music then there wouldn't be the special feel to the game, ya
know what I mean? Well let me tell you, the sound may sound a little
bit like a GB, but the sound is solid. It gives the right music for
the right time. The sound of doing other things, such as equipping,
healing, etc., are also very well done. There is nothing bad with the
music.
I give the sound: 10/10
Replayability:
If you're the one that loves RPGs then you'll want to play this
thing over and over again. Why might you ask? Well it hands out so
many things for you to do, that you can only do once, that you might
love of the things and play that one part. Or it could be the fact the
its just long enough but not to long nor is it short. Though it takes
awhile to get to some of the really good parts. I would know. I've
played this thing from beginning to end 5-7 times.
I give the replayability: 8/10
Challenge:
Oh yeah, the challenges in this game. There are things in this game
that will make you level up before you move on. If you don't even try
to level up, then... you're DOOMED!!! It is an absolute MUST that you
have to level up. Also getting the ultimate weapon for each character
will take a toll on your time.
I give the challenge: 10/10
Overall:
Overall, this is a pretty solid game.
I give Earthbound: 10/10
Conclusion:
So I can't really say this is bad now can I? Well not many people
would know this game so that's why I made this review. You would only
know Ness from SSB and SSBM. Well I hope this has given you people
enough information about EarthBound. Well in Japan they call it Mother
2. See ya, and good night or good morning or whatever time you are
reading this.
