  Game Name: Final Fantasy 2
System: Super Nintendo
Genre: RPG
Developer/Publisher: Square
Release Date: 1991
Players: 1

Introduction:

Final Fantasy 2 (Is number 4 in Japan) is one of the best Final Fantasys on the market. It ranks up in my top ten RPGs of all time. Good story along with good combat and amazing characters and music.

Story:

You start off as Dark Knight Cecil. He is the captain of the Red Wing airship crew. He was sent out to steal the water crystal from the innocent Mysidian mages by the King of Baron. When he gets back from this trip he reports to the king. He asks the king why are they stealing these crystals and right when he question the king he dismisses him as the captain of the red wings. Kain then rushes in and tries to control the situation and talk some sense into the king but then the king tells them both to go to the town of Mist with a package. When they get there they find that the package was really a trap and the town goes up in flames. A young summoner of this town attempts to stop kain and cecil because she thinks they did it...kain and cecil kill the summoner. Cecil gets like knocked out or somthin' and wakes up finding a young girl called Ryndia. Why has the king tried to kill them? Who is this ryndia? why did they want us to destroy that town of Mist?! Why must the king have these crystals?! The story isn't anything new; but it was awesome for its time...if it was released now it probably wouldn't do well; but I still love the story.

Gameplay:

Gameplay is traditional RPG style. You choose either ATTACK, FLEE, MAGIC AND ITEM. The magic has a good variety. Ryndia can "call" monsters. It's just what they call summoning. The battles are pretty fun. The other half of the game is just running through towns purchasing new weapons. You also find alot of cool weapons and items in dungeons. Random battles aren't that bad...could be worse. Gameplay isn't any thing you haven't seen before.

I give the gameplay: 8/10

Graphics:

Graphics are amazing. I love the clean nice look of this game. Its no FINAL FANTASY 3 (6 in Japan) by any means but it still looks nice. But what can you really expect from the SNES? Only a handful of games use the SNES to its full potential.

I give the graphics: 8/10

Sound:

Music has always been amazing in the Final Fantasys, and this game is no exception. I always found myself humming with the music at times. I always would hum the victory theme. Nobou ueamatsu did the music for this one. It isn't as good as lets say...FF3 (6 in Japan) but I ain't complaining.

I give the sound: 8/10

Replayability:

There is alot of secret weapons you can find and they aren't very easy to get. Secret summonings you can get. Its always fun to level your characters to level 99. The game is long and pretty linear. The game has alot of replayability if you really want to find all the weapons and all the secrets.

I give the replayability: 8/10

Challenge:

Game has a solid difficulty. Starts off rather easy and in the end is pretty tough. It isn't too easy or too hard. And even if you cant beat that one boss you can always train your characters to a higher level. There was never a time where I had to fight this boss...I could always go back and level up. They always told me where to go in the game.. I was sometimes lost but when I was I just adventured around in caves and such.

I give the challenge: 10/10

Value:

Pfff you could get this for like 10 bucks off ebay! Heck you could just get it off the internet. Great game you got to get this if your a RPG fan or a FF fan. I would pay 40 bucks for this game.

I give the value: 10/10

Characters:

There's at least 12 chars in this game. Each with their own unique abilities and weapons. There's times when the writing is funky though....for example ???:I cant believe ???? is gone... ???: Well we'll just have to avenge him..lets go" Yea..that was after some one was killed...and they just kinda went on with their little adventure, and some little things feels tacked on...some side things with characters. But in the end, I loved them all...except for that spoony bard.

I give the Characters: 8.5/10

Overall:

Over all its a solid RPG with a cool story and pretty cool characters. There were times when you could tell this was an old game. Someone would die and they would shrug and go "OK LETS GET GOING!" but its an old game and I forgive it for that. Still it has a good replay value and nice graphics.

I give Final Fantasy 2 (#4 in Japan): 9/10

Conclusion:

Well rounded game..just go buy it now...
