Game Name: Super Mario World 2:
Yoshi's Island
System: Super Nintendo
Genre: Sidescroller/Action
Developer/Publisher: Nintendo
Release Date: October 1st, 1995
Players: 1

Introduction:

We first saw Yoshi in the amazing Super Mario World (SNES). People very much liked him so they made more games with him, and almost every single Mario game he appears at least once. Yoshi is a dinosaur that is green, has a long tongue, and likes to eat alot. But one of the most amazing and unique games of all time is Yoshi's Island. A game that came out on the SNES, that everyone loved.

Story:

A stork is bringing Baby Mario and Baby Luigi to their parents, while in the sky Kamek (an evil witch) runs into the stork and the babies go pluming to the ground, later on some dinosaurs called Yoshi's come and finds Mario. They decide that they are going to get Luigi back; who fell down into Bowser's castle. So the game that changed gaming starts!

Gameplay:

The gameplay is very good, this adventure/platformer just has to have the best gameplay ever. The Yoshi's are fast and fight perfectly, with the coolest weapon being eggs that follow you whereever you go. The Yoshi can also jump very high, and then do a flutter jump letting him go even higher in a fast rate. The Yoshi also has a very long tongue that not only gets high food or far away food, but also gets and defeats enemies if aimed at them. Some enemies Yoshi will swallow and they will turn into eggs. Some times Yoshi can get a special power-up and become a machine like Cars, Helicopters, and even Moles, I know it sounds weird at first, but it is very helpful and is kind of neat. Now Baby Mario can get a special star, and he will be invincible and can defeat anything at a very high speed level. There are also little side games, and fun bosses that you will encounter as well that bring the gameplay score up.

I give the gameplay: 9.0/10

Graphics:

For the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, the graphics are very good, and looks just like a cartoon, in a way. The screen goes smoothly with Yoshi, with no mistakes on the way. The backgrounds are very great, there are mountains that look very nice for the SNES, the characters look even better than the ones in Super Mario World, Nintendo put alot of detail into this game, and I thank them for it.

I give the graphics: 9.2/10

Sound:

The music is nice, it's like any other Mario game, has some classic songs, you just have to hum a little, and you may not even know that you're doing so. The classic songs are back and so are new ones. The sound effects are good to, as Yoshi makes noises along with Mario, the enemies, and if some force acts on something, there should be a nice sound effect that Nintnendo added that makes this game great as well as everything else.

I give the sound: 8.5/10

Replayability:

Some games have great replayability. Some games have secrets that you missed, this game is not that kind unfortunately. You may play it a few times, but usually the best kind of replayability games, are in my opinion RPG's, this is a game that would never get old, but you just may not have as much fun playing it the second time.

I give the replayability: 7.8/10

Challenge:

The challenge may be pretty easy at first, but at the end, some of those levels are very hard. Some of the enemies you have to think how to beat or get past them. Some levels want you to go very very fast or you die. The boss levels are hard, only because it's a big challenge on getting to the boss, the bosses themselves are hard, but not as hard as getting there. Now when you do get hurt, Baby Mario goes into a bubble and you have to save him before time runs out or the Fly Guys will come and take him away. The challenge is pretty high, but I like it!

I give the challenge: 8.9/10

Value:

The game, no matter how high, is a must buy, if you have a SNES then I recommend this classic game to anyone. The game will make you want every Mario game like you've never wanted a Mario game before!

I give the value: 9.5/10

Overall:

Overall this is a must buy for anyone of any age. Nintendo did a great job with this game, and is of course one of my favorite games of all time. So please if you have a SNES go out and get it if you can find it, and if you don't have a SNES then hopefully you have a GBA because they have a remake of it on that as well, and it is just as brilliant, and also includes Mario Bros.

I give Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island: 9.5/10

Conclusion:

One of the best Mario games to ever hit. Mr. Miyamoto, thank you very much in making such a great game that I love so much. You did a brilliant job in making it. Now go out and get it, and if you have a DS, get Yoshi Touch and Go, the sequel.
