  Game Name: Mario Clash
System: Virtual Boy
Genre: Sports/Tennis
Developer/Publisher: Nintendo
Release Date: July 21st, 1995

Introduction:

A tennis game with Mario, Peach, Luigi and friends. The game was released with the VB in Japan. One of the better VB games but a little bit spoiled by the VB´s loss of a link option, which means that you can't play against a mate, just the computer.

Story:

well there isn't really a story here...

Gameplay:

You pick one of seven characters to play tennis. You can play either singles or doubles, a single match or a tournament, and choose to play one or three sets. There are three difficulty levels to choose from, after beating the game you get a password that lets you access three additional ones. The designers put a lot of effort into this game and it shows, especially in the minor details. During matches, objects will float across the top of the screen to add some flavor. After each match a screen giving the match statistics is shown. The only reason it doesn't get a ten for gameplay is the fact that the game has no two player mode. Since Nintendo never released the link cable, a two player mode was impossible, but it still would have been nice.

I give the gameplay: 7/10

Graphics:

The graphics are pretty good. The sprites for the opposing players are good for what they are supposed to do, except when you get up close to them after the game is over-they are just bad, and I don't understand how Nintendo let that happen. They are so horrible its confounding. The graphics for those opposing players are worse than a Julia Roberts flick. Even worse than Resident Evil. In fact, they are worse than bad examples of how bad those graphics are. On the other hand, though, we get great graphics for the background and for yourself (and your team mate, if you choose to have one). The ball is pretty round, and it doesn't have a smiley on it, which is a surprise seeing how this game came from the same people who like to put smileys on hills and mushrooms.

I give the graphics: 6/10

Sound:

Nintendo did\'t even try with the sound in this game. To tell you the truth I think the sound in NES games where better! Better luck next time Nintendo

I give the sound: 4/10

Replayability:

Of course ! This is a tennis game. Tennis is sports. Most games that are sports games are replayable in exhibitions. And, if there is a season mode, which I forget if there was, you can do that over if you would prefer.

I give the replayability: 9.5/10

Challenge:

I must say this is by far the hardest Mario Tennis game I ever played!

I give the challenge: 8.5/10

Value:

for around $40-50 (at the time this game was out) I would buy it for sure. Even now this and any other VBOY games are rare if you come across this game Pick it up as fast as you can!

I give the value: 10/10

Overall:

Fun, hard and yet funny tennis game. I loved this game from start to end. And I think you will to!

I give Mario's Tennis: 8.5/10

Conclusion:

If your looking for a good time then this is a Good time your looking for. Pick up this game at all costs.
