Nintendo

Introduction:

The greatest game series of all time created by the best developers of all time is without a doubt The Legend of Zelda series. The series has been going strong for 20 years without a single disappointing game in the series. No Zelda game however, has ever surpassed the N64 classic, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Until now that is. The wait is over, it's here. Zelda fans rejoice, because this is the most epic, innovative, challenging and flawless Zelda game to date. The wait was long, but it was worth it.

Story:

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is set 100 years after Ocarina of Time. You are Link, a farm boy in a small village called Ordon. The game starts off nice and easy, you do chores and favours for your neighbours, you play with the neighbourhood kids and go fishing. After the kids and Ilia, who is a young girl around Link's age, are kidnapped by mysterious creatures, Link sets off to rescue them, thus entering the Twilight Realm and turning into a wolf. You meet up with Midna, a mysterious character that almost acts as the equivalent of Navi from Ocarina. She will then accompany you as you seek to return to your human form. You learn of the evil Twilight king, Zant and that he seeks to embed Hyrule in Twilight and enslave the innocent. You must then set off to seek the fused shadows to defeat Zant and save Hyrule from Twilight. Or perhaps the fused shadows won't be enough...

Gameplay:

The gameplay in Twilight Princess is flawless and totally innovative. You'll be swinging your Wii-remote to swing your sword, you'll be pointing the remote at the screen and aiming with the pointer to use your projectile weapons. After you experience the innovation of the Wii-remote and nunchuk, believe me, you will not want to go back to button mashing. It's a Zelda games, and of course a Zelda game is going to have puzzles, and very clever ones to boot. The boss battles in this game are the best of any Zelda game ever created, they are ridiculously fun and there's always an interesting technique to beating them. There are also sidequests and mini-games to boot, which make the game even more fun than it already is. Did I mention you get to fight on horseback? Oh, and controlling Link in wolf form is flawless. Te gameplay in this game is absolutely outstanding, this is the Wii's killer app when it comes to gameplay.

I give the gameplay: 10/10

Graphics:

This game started out as a gamecube game, and it can show. The Wii is certainly capable of more, but this game still looks brilliant. The characters in this game are very, very, very detailed and realistic, especially Link. Their can be some muddy textures every now and again in Hyrule field or Gerudo Dessert, but it isn't a big deal. The dungeons had a lot of work done, and it shows. The bosses look brilliant as well, and even the weapons...the graphics are superb.

I give the graphics: 9.0/10

Sound:

This game sounds great, especially with the Wii remotes internal speaker. When you draw your sword, you'll feel the vibration in your hand, when you shoot your bow, you'll feel the vibration, and it works. The music is a bit of a letdown. There are some great pieces, but most of the soundtrack is midi instead of orchestrated. Come on, a brilliant game deserves brilliant music. There's still some great music though.

I give the sound: 8.5/10

Replayability:

This game can take you anywhere from 50-70 hours to beat, plus with the sidequests and minigames, it'll last you even longer. Heck, you may even want to play through the main quest a second time!

I give the replayability: 9.5/10

Challenge:

This game isn't quite as challenging as Ocarina, but it certainly can be quite difficult at times. The boss battles aren't quite as challenging as I would've liked, but figuring out what you need to do to kill them can be a task. The puzzles can be tough, the developers made sure of that, and some of the fighting you'll be doing is quite challenging. A fairly hard game, definitely not a let down when it comes to difficulty.

I give the challenge: 9.0/10

Frustration:

The only thing that can get frustrating at times are some of the puzzles, nothing that'll make you throw your brand new Wii-remote at the screen.

I give the challenge: 3.0/10

Value:

This game is going for $50 american and $60 canadian, and for a game this spectacular, it's worth every penny. Not a waste of money at all.

I give the value: 10/10

Overall:

We've been waiting ever since this game was announced at E3 2004 and now the wait is over. If you got a Wii and you got this game, good. If you don't have this game, for goodness sake get it. With flawless gameplay, impressive graphics and a brilliant story, this game is not to be missed.

I give The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess: 9.9/10

Conclusion:

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is an instant classic. This is the best game the Wii has to offer at the moment and no Zelda fan will be disappointed. This game will be remembered by Zelda fans for years, this won't be forgotten. Enjoy every moment you have with this game, it was worth the wait.
