Memories/Experiences

The "DX" memories

When I was 6 years old, my cousins got a N64 with Super Mario 64 and Mario kart 64. So, whenever I went to their house, I'd play it for hours getting stars and racing in the Grand PX. On the Christmas of 98' I was in for a surprise. I got a Gameboy color which was new at the time and I also got Super Mario Brothers DX for it. I didn't know what a side scrolling Mario game was at the time so I just had to give it a shot. I fell in love with the game instantly. It was my only system at the time because my family didn't have a ton of money and we lived in a small house at the time. I remember sitting next to the fire place playing that game on a cold, winter night. I'd play it in the car going places, and it took 30 minutes to drive to our church in Sunday. I great time to play it then. Sometimes my mom or dad would sit next to me while I played and cheer me on. Sitting in waiting rooms of Dentist offices and Doctor's as well and the other kids in the room would watch me play and got entertained by the jumping, running and brick-smashing action! About a year later when I was 7 I got an N64 with the SM64 and MK64. Then eventually got a Gameboy SP and Gamecube. When I was about 9 I got a SNES and just recently got a NES. But ever so often I'd remember the days of my Mario brothers playing on my yellow Gameboy color. Playing on Stormy nights and rainy days and I'd get out my old Gameboy and play SMBDX for hours and sometimes I'd be in a place in some level and remember a time of playing it. That's got to be one of my best childhood memories.
